I tried after you directed me to the correct forum but the codes had all been used. Too bad, I really wanted to try this app. I've had problems finding an app that could play all WMV files.

Alright, I've prepared two specially code for you Ash, and Beagle.
Please send me an email at mugwater@ecplayer.net and leave your email there.
Hope you will enjoy and review it :)

I have been trying out EC Player. This player gives good quality playback on WMV files that are poor quality or don't play at all using VLC and Goodplayer. It has a nice UI and has a lot of potential.

The app is working good so far. It's been able to play most of the avi files I've tried so far, only 2 movies have not worked, only the audio was played. For the movies that have worked, playback is very smooth and I've had no problems at all with audio syncing.

Offshore6, are you using iPad 2?
We have noticed some resolution of movies will cause a black screen showing on landscape mode. We have submitted a patch to Apple for approval already.
Would you mind telling us your problem (support@ecplayer.net) in detail please? Your information is very critical for us to improve ECPlayer.
Thank you so much.

sure I'll send an email, I just want to go back and check the resolution of the ones I wasn't able to play. Yes I'm using an iPad 2. I noticed that if I was watching the movie in landscape with just audio, and switched to portrait, I was able to view a small second or two of video before it went back to black with just audio.

Email sent. The resolutions were 720x304 and 640 x 352. One was a movie and the other an episode of a tv show. Both avi files.

Offshore6, thanks for your info.
The iPad2 fixing patch has been submitted to apple for approval.
Thank you for your support.

For iPad 2 users, please follow the instruction to update the app for the urgent fix of some resolution showing blackscreen.

In the mean time, we will continue to develop new features like tvout and multiple audio support in the next feature update. Stay tuned!
Please enjoy your smooth playback :)

How could it be a memory issue when the iPad2 has twice the memory?

When the ipad1 tries to play a movie of say, HD caliber, it uses much of the available memory. Since the iPad 2 has twice the memory, it's not an issue.

You'll notice that ECPlayer was used against AVPlayerHD on the iPad 1 and not the iPad 2 in the vid link. The reason for this is, there is no issues with AVPlayerHD on the iPad 2. I know this because I use AVPayer on my iPad 2 daily, playing every file imaginable and they all play perfectly.

So again, it looks to me like ECPlayer is perfect for iPad 1 owners.

Mac.World, we didnt do comparison on iPad 2 vs iPad 2 for AVP and ECP is just because of a simple reason, we only got a single iPad 2 testing machine.
And we find that we cant show great effect like OPlayer on iPad2 vs ECP on iPad1 when using AVP. So we make a fair comparison to it as we do have 3 iPads. That's it, not anything technical :p

Good to know, but I don't think it will be much worth your time to do a vid comparison between ECP and AVP on the iPad2. AVP works flawlessly.

Since the hardware speed is still limited on iPad 2 when comparing with desktop, many of the large resolution movies cannot be decoded using software smoothly, like HD MKV files. It still have room for players to optimize and provide smoother experience, even on iPad 2. It's just easier to observe this effect on iPad 1 only. This is our goal and we will keep improving ECP on that :)

Thanks for the update. Everything is working fine now.

Jacky11, Apple TV support is on our todo feature list.
Will let you know if it's ready :)

It has been a while already for us to make the 1.1 update.
Now ECP is with TV out support, loop play/next item (Ash, I remember you've mentioned the auto play feature, after some time, we deliver the tag system to feed your need, thanks for you suggestion :)

And most importantly, huge improvement for playback performance. Especially on MKV movies.

EC Player is my favorite video player. I'm pleased that you have added loop play.

I hope you will add password protection.
