damn damn damn. This sucks! my all time favorite band and now Eddie is gone.

Thought I would get to see him play again.

Born Dutch
I thought he was older, thought he would be quite a bit older than me...not by that much...shows my age

I about wore out Jump on a few records and maybe on a couple hard drives as well.

Not particular fond of that song, probably one of the better known VanHalen songs but by no means their best imho.

I didn't know a thing about rock'n'roll until I was almost 40 years old. Most stuff i started out with was scrounged as castoffs from siblings. When I got lucky I nailed a "loan" and maybe didn't give it back. 😔

Since then and from the advent of streaming, I've had more options lol... but Van Halen's Jump is a sentimental favorite as a milestone of my belated "early days" exploring nonclassical music.

Musically..I'm probably a weirdo, I don't like (mostly) a bands best known songs, for instance, Prince best known song is Purple rain, while it is a great song it's not my favourite.
The majority of people like the songs which they hear on the radio, never even buying a complete album, the gems are mostly the ones you don't hear on the radio or otherwise like streaming.

I honestly thought Van Halen would have outlived any of the Rolling Stones band members. I was shocked at this dropped everything when I saw the news.

Damn, first Neil Peart now Eddie Van Halen. Two of the bands that defined my adolescence and high school years. RIP Eddie. Streaming VH now!

One of my all time favorite guitarist - is gone
One of the players who inspired me to play rock guitar
It was game over for many guitarist when "Eruption" was recorded
Been to at least 10+ Van Halen concerts - including the US Festival
I have so many favorite guitarist and EVH is one of the top 5 for me
He was so unique like the late Allan Holdsworth - they jammed together at MI in Hollywood one time
It hasnt fully hit me he is really gone
I'm sure he is shredding wherever he is now
RIP in peace
