Wish I had internet that was decent enough to allow me to watch this, but why bother if I know it'll crap out 15 or 20 minutes into the stream.

----------

Pretty cool that a top-level exec would do an interview with a guy who frequently and accurately confirms or denies Apple rumors.

Where do you think those "rumors" come from?;):)

Don't leave home without heading to your Apple store first; iTunes Festival is free but it won't take iOS6 or older. :D

'It's All About the Artists and the Music'... Apple is "not trying to pitch our products"

yeah right...

Nothing lamer than a cut-throat business trying to appear as a philanthropist.
Obviously Apple gets some marketing benefit out of this. However, they aren't claiming to be 'philanthropists' and there are many things that are 'lamer' than this. Your closing statement is patently false.

If you like "singer songwriters" rap "artists" and .....the only band ... Coldplay (jeez ... can it get ANY more bland). You'll just love this ...."Festival" of ....."Music".... It's getting tougher Apple ... It's getting tougher ... But if the "audience" think this is the epitome of what musicianship is .... Then lerrem lap it up ...good on ya Tim!

Except of course for born pessimists...

Where's the story of Apple cutting it's return time policy in half from 30 days to 14 days?

That is not a rumor but a fact.

The thing is they aren't trying to pitch their products with this event... However, they do use it to offer an added experience to those who own their products. Something you aren't gonna get with a roku, a Chromecast, an Android phone, or Android tablet. These are the little things that matter.

"This year's series included performances from a number of artists, across a variety of genres, including Justin Timberlake, Katy Perry, Elton John, Ludovico Einaudi"

sounds ****ing awful

So it's all about the artist and the music? Why do they then invite a traitor and enemy of the United States to the event? I'm calling BS on this all. Yes, I was also one of those who first believed that Snowden was having good intentions and was bringing important issues to the public. He has since defected and given classified information (that has nothing to do with oversight concerns at the services which are legitimate) to our enemies. That much should be clear by now.

So I really don't understand why Apple is still involved with this silly little festival. That makes me want to stop buying Apple product. And I don't like any of the artists anyway so that's an east one. Coldplay - gives me narcolepsy.

Last year Imagine Dragons played at the university where I work. I didn't go because they're not my cup of tea, but my daughter had tickets and ran into them at the University Mall day of the show.

They posed with her for pics and seemed like decent guys. I always like to hear stories about how celebrities are cool to their fans.

You'd hope they were decent considering the lead singer (and first drummer) went to that university where you work. :)

Well, the stage wasn't awash with Apple logos, and there was no one coming out and pitching Apple products, so yes, I'd say they're doing a reasonable job of what they said.

I saw Metric play a free outdoor concert in Toronto a few years ago, presented by Samsung, and everyone in the crowd had to watch a marketing droid talk about Samsung Galaxy phones for 15 minutes before the show, and the Samsung logo was everywhere.

You do know that SXSW and the iTunes Festival are in the same city at the same time (no coincidence), but otherwise completely separate events?

Oh... why am I even spending time to reply to this nonsense

AUSTIN -- A suspected drunken driver pursued by police roared the wrong way down a one-way street and crashed through police barriers at a festival here Thursday, killing two people and injuring 23 more, officials said.

Yet, Eddy Cue and other officials say the show must go on

Exactly!!! ... wait... oh damn! :)

What I meant is that this whole "it's all about the music" is false. The 30% fee they take from musicians, and their pricing policy is kind of a ripoff. Of course they use it as a marketing tool, and I agree that they could be more aggressive in their advertising... but when you ask musicians, specially indie artists, iTunes is not the best for their survival. Hence, it's not about the music, but the music business.

But I agree - things could always be worse.

Cheers!
