It’s not. Sounds about right. It’s not Aspen. $12M there gets you a small townhome.

I’m curious if his listing price is furnished or not. If it is, I’d consider it a fair deal, being a remote property.

no doubt, that's what i'm saying... i'm going to jump on it unless someone else beats me to it ;)

I wish that area would get more rain. I would be worried about forest fires.

yep... pretty sure that's why he decided to sell it

Is that an Apple Tv built into the wall.;)

Here's the MLS listing page (Redfin). It's located near Northstar resort.

$11,995,000

What a douchebag (Eddy Cue), why not $12,000,000.
I really don't get that $5000 lower than 12M, there's no reason.

That's how pricing often works in real estate (and even beyond)?

Not here in the Netherlands.(with exceptions)

Pretty common in the US. It is referred to as "odd pricing" or "just-below" pricing. There are all kinds of psych studies showing it works. That is why you often see products in the stores priced at $3.98 or $10.99 for example.

I understand it works for "cheap" items like food, not for expensive houses like this one.

I should have qualified that with in US at least.

It's like that for everything essentially. Just a standard/mentality type of thing when it comes to pricing (high or low) in most instances. Even gas (as in gasoline) goes for let's say $3.29 and 9/10 per gallon, I mean it's not just 29 cents, but 29.9 cents, and yet they still won't just call it 30.

Gasoline is something else, same here.
Food too is different, sometimes a supermarket has only cents profit on items, I understand the pricing there but not for very expensive items like boats/cars/houses.

Similar type of mentality basically. Someone seeing $1,995,000 gets a somewhat different initial emotional reaction than if they see $2,000,000, even though they are effectively the same essentially. Similarly it can also can help get the house in front of people's eyes as some will have searches set up with an upper limit, so let's say using that previous example, those who have a search of up to $2 million might not be shown the listing that starts with a 2 (or more).

It's not really to say that it's somehow more "correct" or "best" or anything like that, more that it's just how it's often done (again, at least in US, or California at least) and that in some scenarios there can be some reasoning that can apply to it, even beyond the "it's just how it's usually done".

Lake Tahoe was absolute heaven last time I went. 32˚F, a decent blanket of snow everywhere except on the roads.

MR forum resident southern calif plastic surgeons debate why tahoe isn’t actually good skiing in 3...2...
It's not! I only went here for hiking day and night and driving around. Also, they somehow have good Mexican food, unlike the entirety of the Bay Area (yes including Mission in SF).

Beautiful looking location, but... I’d probably have to bulldoze the house and start again!

Maybe Eddy is the one in charge of Apple pricing with all the xx9 :D

Because that makes complete sense. A corporate executive places his house up for sale, that should indicate he might be fired? Say/think what you want about Eddy Cue, but his success within Apple‘s company and clearly it’s proven over the years through the Jobs and Cook era.

Yeah. He handled Siri just great.
Oh, wait.....
