Apple Music works great for me.

I understand some may have problems with it, but people just find stuff to complain about.

For me, it's an awesome music service for just $10 a month. If you don't like it, then don't use it.

You're telling everyone that people who have problems should just shut up and move on? How does something gets improved if nobody talks about how good/bad it is?

I canceled yesterday and went back to Spotify. Apple hasn't updated or fixed the UI since Music launched way back in the summer. You still can't even create a new playlist from a song or album page. Spotify also doesn't have the weird greyed out track issue.

Oh, and $4.99/mo. for students :D

Yeah, Apple Music was ok, but Spotify's student discount got me canceling and going back. If Apple could match Spotify at 4.99 i'd consider staying, no reason to pay double the price when Apple doesn't really have much that Spotify doesn't already have as far as music selection. I was also disappointed in the workout playlists I came across on Apple Music, seemed like a lot of 90s techno and the same top-10 tracks without much variety. I know I can create my own playlists with what I want, but Apple's pre-selected playlists were bad compared to Spotify's.

Also, Apple Music's "desktop client" (aka a tab in iTunes) is a joke and not even comparable to Spotifys.

I think it's quite strange that Apple made a music service that is so hard to use. I mean - look at the great and easy ways to navigate through the OSes (swipes etc). They should really implement them in the service to make their users create playlist and save music for later easier. Now it feels like you've got to spend the next minute saving the song for later, while it's a swipe and a touch away in apps like Spotify.
Another tip - merge iTunes and Apple Music. It should be way easier to buy music directly from the streaming service.

Unsubscribed from the service for now - but I am willing to give it another try. Just make it work.

I'm not a pessimist. However, literally all of my friends that tried Apple Music didn't like it and returned to Spotify.

I was charged a couple days ago, I'm gonna keep it, it could be snappier and with a simpler interface like Spotify but it's ok.

Reckon that! I'm in to, with a family sharing account even divided over 6 people. I pay €2,50 each month instead of €9,95 when using Spotify which I did before trying out Apple's Music. And all tough I do agree that lot's of work needs to be done on the GUI I do prefer the overal look & feel of Apple Music way more then Spotify. Spotify seems a bit childish to me, black, dark, and way to many submenus. On top of this Apple Music offers much better playlist by far.

So, better look & feel, equal, or even more, tracks for 1/4 of the price compared to Spotify. I'm sold.

I just don't use it enough to justify another $10 a month bill. Due to the amount that content owners actually get paid per song I would rather pay like 2 cents per stream and Apple would still be making a 100% markup since they pay out 6 cents to 8.4 cents per stream. If anything they could do like 1 cent per skipped song and 3 cents if you listen to more than 30 seconds of the song and I would love it

Keeping Apple Music for now. I like being able to think of any song and ask Siri to play it (In my car, Siri is the usual way I start playing songs). Ideally, 100% of all commercially available songs would be on there of course.
That's one of the things it does that amuses me. I don't have any problems with Apple Music because I have a quirky way of making my own playlists that works the same with Apple Music as it does with Spotify.

It's the more affordable family plan that will keep us with Apple Music. The bugs and crap interface don't bother us too much. I only ran into a grayed out song once.

They don't have the most extensive music collection once you get past pop and rap and stuff like that. But I don't stream everything anyway. Our family actually listens to a lot of vinyl since we were given my mother-in-law's massive wooden console stereo and her huge collection of albums.

Purple shirt and orange Apple Watch band...Eddy is ready for Halloween.

I cancelled after day 1. It destroyed my library. I'm not in the iTunes needs to be split into a "million" Apps camp, I think it's fine the way it is. But Apple Music definitely needs to be it's own App and completely segregated from my primary iTunes music library like all the other music Apps.

...Or at least bring back the customisable buttons at the bottom. That way I can nuke "for you", "new" and "radio" and nestle them in a dusty "..." button, never to be clicked on again.

Fix the ridiculous UI, and charge 4,99. Then we'll talk.

I have to say (as a user experience/usability specialist) - iTunes has the worst, most confusing UI Apple has ever put out.

Cue is a bonehead.

Apple Music is a joke, but it's still the most seamless way to listen to music in the Apple ecosystem.

If Cue is in charge of something, he usually screws it up. There are so many UI mistakes in Apple Music that should have been changed. This is what Steve was great at....recognizing poor design and ensuring it's user friendly (shh don't speak of MobileMe). Why put an account button on the top left of the music app? That's prime real estate for a "Artists/Genre/Songs" drop down menu.

My dad couldn't figure out how to browse through his songs, a seemingly simple task. Why...because it was sorted by Album and he couldn't figure out how to sort his music to his liking. He had to ask me to do it for him. Poor design.

Personally, I don't like any of the music apps. I think Spotify does the best job, but I think all of the streaming apps lack easy to navigate interfaces. They try to be too fancy with gestures and UI design.

Back to Eddie. Tim, you need to replace this clown. My least favorite Apple executive.

Sincerely,
Everyone

Did they flip (horizontal) the Eddy Cue photo or what? Why does the Apple Watch look so off on his wrist. There is something not right. I think the digital crown is on the wrong side of his arm/wrist.

Haven't activated my free trial yet. That said I've played around a bit on others accounts and quite like it - the way you can like tracks and have it generate a playlist is really cool.

On the other hand, the UX on the desktop has got not Spotify so I don't see myself switching. Yet, anyway.

I don't know why, but when i see his creepy smile the first word that comes to my mind is JERK.

No the photo has not been flipped. Left handed people can rotate the watch to wear it on their right arm so the crown is on the correct side but at the bottom rather than the top.

You know what bothered me about Apple Music? You're welcome to disagree with me here, but for me it was not the messy UI or the mess it made of my music library. It's the fact that it's a product that never needed to exist. What do I mean? The only unique feature is the way it is marketed, and the fact that it is pre-installed on every single iOS device.

From Apple's point of view, it makes perfect sense. In recent years, the music industry has been (perhaps regrettably) transitioning to a collection of streaming services, no doubt motivated by piracy and poor album sales. And Apple slept through the alarm call.

Now in a vain attempt to recreate the glory days of the iPod, they want to crash the party that Spotify, Pandora, Last FM, Google et al have started, and achieve market dominance, using the iPhone's market dominance as leverage. And they didn't even develop it in-house. They just bought out an existing service and rebranded it as their own.

I get a nice sense of vindication when people complain about Beats 1 and the Discover section, but if I'm honest, those are not the reason why I dislike Apple Music. I dislike it for being, as its core concept, a hostile takeover of the music industry.

I feel the exact same way. I've been using Macs since 1992, and I feel like the UI of iTunes / Music app keeps getting worse and worse. It used to be easy to find an artist I wanted to listen to, but now I feel like I have to jump through hoops, especially when I know exactly what I want to hear.

Clearly Apple is working on some form of cell service. There is no way that Eddie cares about a bit of roaming charges.First of all I am sure Apple pays for his phone and second he is super rich anyway so it would be nothing to him.

This place is filled with cynics. It's Apple's whole business to care about these things. It's about the bigger picture

Personally enjoy Apple Music and the Siri integration is super. The kind of user I am is Siri is 95% of my interaction with the service and that suits me perfectly. In terms of an Android version I think Apple should back until 2016 so they can come more prepared. I'm sure there's ready for a million nerdy 1-star Android reviews from people who won't use the app.

"But we're pleased with the number of people who have tried. Everybody gets fixated on the short term but we're in this for the long haul."
Eddy should become politician. What a great way to bring on underperforming numbers.

I'm keeping my subscription for now. But as a long time CD purchaser I liking ripping and owning my music. I'm worried that by relying on a subscription I'll have a whole backload of music to purchase if I drop the service. I'm also missing my AIFF rips for sound quality. I guess I'm getting lazy.

One other comment MOG was a lot better for me for finding new music. Of course that service morphed into Beats which I hated.
