Signed up for the trial, played around for 10 minutes - found it totally confusing and not even close to the Spotify experience - cancelled the subscription 20 minutes later - still I count as a subscriber, because the subscription is valid for the whole 3 months.
So now I have to live without Taylor Swift, but I think I will get over it.

A whole 10 minutes?

Actually it kind of is. It took Spotify 2 years to get 2.5m paid subscribers, so even if 90% cancel their AM subs before the free trial ends they're still on track to beat Spotify by a long shot.

Granted, Apple have the iTunes install base already, so they'd have to match Spotify's 20m paid subs (Which has taken them 7 years to gather) within six months in order to gain "impressive" status in my books, and I think that's perfectly achievable.

Seven, or even five years ago the mass market interest in streaming was far different to what it is today, 11 million free subs from the huge market iTunes has in a world that has far more potential customers than Spotify had when it launched (they didn't have an install base, either.) most certainly is not something to brag about.

I never used Spotify, but my experience with Apple Music has been entirely positive. Music discovery is definitely a step up from iTunes already.

Some people like to buy and some like to rent.

Isn't it nice to have the choice. :)
I definitely agree there should be choice. I certainly don't want to be forced into a subscription model only. I'm still in honeymoon land right now because I'm doing the trial periods. I'm sure I'll have a slight different feeling once that $9.99 per month becomes a reality. :D

Yeah.....we're still waiting on those updates Eddy, it's been 5 weeks. What a joke.

The updates happen without the need to push out an application update. I have already several times had to look for something that has moved. They are making changes and posting updates but it may not be obvious. They have work to do still but the updates are happening.

I'm sticking with Apple Music. The family plan is priced right, I can listen to some music when I exercise and if I like, I can search for and play a song that comes to mind and do it on demand. Radio offers only what they want to play, with a service like AM I get to decide what I want to listen to. I know many have complained about the interface because its not exactly like Spotify but oh well. I would guess if Apple copied Spotify we would still have complaints but they would be "they copied Spotify, way to be original Apple". You can't please all of the people all of the time. I myself am happy with the service because all I ask of it is to play some music to pass the time and it does that.

What constitutes a flop and what doesn't? 2 million? 3 million? To some Wall Street clowns selling 47 million iPhones in a seasonally weaker quarter is a flop. The minute Apple releases quarterly sales figures on the Watch there's a target and a number they have to beat every quarter. Microsoft has never released sales figures for Surface yet many in the tech press and commenters on tech sites and even here claim it's a success.

Quite honestly it wouldn't bother me at all if Apple stopped giving out sales figures for any of their products. Only disclose what is required by the SEC. Nobody cares that Amazon doesn't tell you how many prime members they have or how many Kindles they sold. Nobody cares that Samsung only offers up Galaxy shipments when it feels like it. Why should it be any different for Apple?

You are grossly twisting the original point. It was not that the AW is a flop. I have not only never said that if you go back to my pre-launch posts I was a huge supporter of the concept. I own an AW, wear it almost daily. So lets just get that off the table. Also Apple is not Amazon or Microsoft or any other company Apple is Apple. I am comparing Apple with Apple. Those other companies have a different history so its not relevant how they present information compared to Apple. It's just a way for you to confuse the issue.

The point I am making, the only point, is that Tim Cook is hiding the numbers. Never before on a major iDevice has Apple not released sales numbers. Not the iPhone, not the iPad. Even on services like iTunes and it's cloud platforms (iTools, .Mac, .Me, iCloud), and just now, Apple Music, it's released user #s. This is the first time Apple hasn't released numbers on a major product (marketing wise, even if it's buried in a BS category). And no, as an investor I am not going to take the CEO's word on something. Maybe you are OK with that, but you see how shareholders of, say, Enron, Lehman Bros., Bear Stearns, faired with trusting the "we are happy where we are" line.

I personally haven't used Apple Music yet - I decided before launch to wait a while for them to iron out the bugs before cashing in on my three month trial.

If you have the ability to wait that is a good idea. Gives the service a bit more time to receive feedback. I was already paying for another service so I decided to go ahead and move over to the service.

Heading straight back to spotify when this trial is over. It's full of bugs. Deletes songs downloaded. Struggled to make playlists. Crap.

Making playlists was infuriating. Add to list? Did it add? Add again, hmm it isn't showing that it added. Add again. What the heck. Check the playlist. . .added it 3 times. Zero feedback to let you know something was added. It's like they didn't even use the thing prior to rolling it out. I make a big playlist, I got to play it later, the playlist is empty. It turns out that I didn't go through the process of downloading the songs so the playlist rejected them. So why have a button to add to the playlist if it gets rejected anyhow. Just a big steaming pile.

All these services are basically the same core thing - a subscription music service. Pick which one you like best. Personally, I moved away from Spotify because the iOS app was horrible. Far below apple's first try, but maybe they've fixed it. So I moved to rdio. Big problem with that one is that if you take music offline, it pushes it to all your iOS devices. So my space challenged iPad limited how much music I could push to my iPhone for offline use. Apple music doesn't do that. That alone is enough for me to go with Apple Music. Also, I like being able to stream music that is not on any of these services, like the beatles, from the same app. The big complaint seems to be the "confusing" iOS app. Well, they probably erred on the side of making it too powerful rather than dumbed down. i actually prefer that and have had no problem doing things in it. But the iOS 9 betas already have improvements to usability. As for iTunes, I don't really understand the hate. Yes it's trying to do a lot, but I just keep it on the music tab anyways. It's a powerful app you may need some time to use fully, but I greatly prefer having my own music and streaming music library in one app. I didn't like having radio and iTunes open at the same time and switching between them.

Now this is a complaint I can get behind. Confusing interface is a learning curve but not seeing songs added to a playlist after clicking the button and getting the check mark saying added only to find that nope, its not there. This needs to be fixed. I listed to a playlist recently, like several of the songs, added 4 or 5 to my playlist. Well, thought I did but none of them were these and I have no idea now what the songs were since I was in the process of discovery. This complaint is valid and I hope too its fixed sooner than later.

Hmmmm, how about all the bugs that are part of the app and not related to the actual service. The iPad Air 2 is a mess. The biggest bug being the slow wake on latest iPads.

I'm satisfied with it. I just rock the mix tape and classic rock stations. I check in with Beats 1 radio every now and then, but rarely hear anything I like. I don't seem to have these issues like others I have read about, but I also don't have iTunes match nor add songs to my library.

Just because Apple has done certain things in the past doesn't mean they always have to do them going forward. Apple never released diversity numbers under Jobs, they are under Cook. Honestly I don't know why Apple is releasing Apple Music figures. I wouldn't have. It doesn't bother me at all that they're not doing it for the Watch. And I say this as a shareholder. In fact I'm kind of baffled that some people seem so offended or upset that Apple isn't releasing sales figures. If Tim Cook had said they sold 3m watches would anything be different today? No. The stock moves up and down on iPhone and China period. And even if it's not about the stock why is it so important to get sales figures? Should Microsoft customers be offended they're not getting Surface sales figures? Is Nadella being shady by hiding those figures?

Tha's hilarious. Youre comparing Tim Cook with Enron criminals and dubious wall st banksters. Please...

This is the most succesfull company in the world. He is not going to lie about something like that. It's illegal to do so.

What I find funny is that no matter how many times Apple disprove the doubters they still doubt. It's on par with some people who still believe Obama isnt American!

Remember that EVERY time people have talked down Apple's prospects they have had to eat humble pie. EVERY TIME. When stocks dropped from $650 > $450 in a month and everybody was calling for Tim Cooks;s head they still had record numbers quarter after quarter. Whether its maps, attenna gate etc.. they keep winning.

It's like betting against Jordan in his prime. Why do people keep doing this?

For the record: are you going to believe the head of the biggest company in the world with a near spotless record or some hack in the press about how his company is doing?

Are these the things in the interface that don't work...? At least in the EU? I click on "Radio" in iTunes, then select "Metal", and then I either land somewhere in the iTunes Store (which is not at all what these links are supposed to do) or simply NOTHING happens. And it's been like this since day one. Crappy Beats 1 is about the only thing that seems to work on the "Radio" tab. Not bad for a multi-billion-dollar-mega-corporation. Not bad at all...
You seriously have never made a non-negative post. Anyway, yes sometimes I need to click twice on one of the other radio stations, that for sure needs work. I never have been taken to the iTunes store however. Also saying "Beats 1" is crappy is subjective - which is fine but has nothing to do with UI issues which still need work.

Some updates will indeed require more than background updates. The reply was in response to the "no updates yet" comment. Many updates are taking place but I agree not all. I am ready for it to be more fluid but I'm willing to give it time. Its not costing me anything at the moment to do with it what I can and if after the trial its still rough then I will be in a position to complain because then its costing me something.

It's actually a service that provides a product if you want to get technical...

In this case "product" was meant to define hardware. Application is the service. Music can be a product but its not what they were saying so they made a correction and called it a service which is agreeable I think.
