Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT 128 MB

I have read that I can upgrade it to a higher 6gb of ram but will that matter? Thanks in advance

Well check out http://www.crucial.com and use the system scanner. That should tell you what the MAX RAM is and what you have currently.

As for gopro what are the recommended specs? It should be on the site or box.

It says 256MB video RAM so I would so no.

http://gopro.com/support/faq-hd-hero/#system-requirements-vary-for-computer

What are the minimum system requirements to be able to handle full 1080p or 720 60fps video files?

For Windows-based computers, we require:

Direct X 9.0c or Later
At least 2 GB of system RAM
Video card with at least 256MB of RAM

For Mac OS-based computers, we require:
Mac OS X v10.4.11 or later
2.0 GHz Intel Core Duo or faster
At least 2 GB of system RAM
Video card with at least 256MB of RAM

it depends what are you going to do?

my mac
2.2 quad core late 2011 15 inch mbpro
512 mb video ram
8gb ram
500 gb hdd

you don't need to use mpeg stream clip, final cut x will convert the files for you.
