Twitter today announced that Twitter Blue subscribers in the United States now have access to the edit tweet feature that has been in testing for the last month.

Earlier this week, Twitter provided an edit button to Twitter Blue users in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and promised a U.S. expansion, which has come quicker than expected.

The "Edit Tweet" button can be found alongside the the already available Delete Tweet, Pin to Profile, Change who can reply, and Add/remove from Lists options.

Tweets can be edited for up to 30 minutes after being sent, and tweets that have been changed are denoted with an "Edited" tag. Twitter provides a history of tweet edits, so the original tweet can continue to be viewed.

Twitter Blue is priced at $4.99 per month in the U.S. and it provides access to ad-free articles, various customization options, a bookmarks folder, an undo tweet option, early access to new Twitter features, and more.

One thing I haven't seen answered is when a tweet is edited, does it lose all the likes/retweets?

So example if someone tweets something that immediately goes viral and Twitter's algorithm shows it all over the place, if they then edit that tweet to say something completely different will the edited tweet have the same value to the algorithm as the original and continue to be shown everywhere?

I get that Twitter is a business, but allowing people to fix their typos and grammar seems like a bizarre thing to monetize. Granted, a lot of people don't *know* they are misspelling things, and so goes social media in general - but creating an overall higher-quality and more respectable platform would seem to be a beneficial thing for attracting users and meaningful interaction alike. Win-win. For $5 a month I'd rather just delete my original tweet and retype it correctly.

I know you can only edit for 30 minutes and edited tweets are shown as such.

But can you have fun with knee jerk reactions, by saying something all fluffy and nice, then changing to an abomination? Bonus points it if affects retweets!

Doesn’t matter. Thought once musk buys twitter you weren’t using it anymore

Who would pay for Twitter lol?
Companies and celebrities. It makes sense for them to edit tweets too. Regular people can just delete the tweet with the typo and write a new one. For people who have lots of followers, deleting a tweet can be an issue.
