Cool! I’ll be sure not to make an account and avoid using this awesome feature.
I managed to get myself permanently kicked off twitter, and yeah I probably severed that.
But it was twitters algorithm that steered me and others into conflict, to keep me going back.

Now I am off twitter I saw what an A*hole I was being, and more to the point how much time I was wasting on something that did not matter.

I will NEVER go back to twitter, I have cut myself entire social media down to just Facebook (🤮) because extended family on on there, but I have cut back on that substantially (by over 80%) too.

I am off doing far more interesting things, in REAL LIFE, I am happier , my mental health has improved, I am actually MORE social, I am achieving things that make a real difference to my and my family.

I now run my own FTP server so family photos can be shared without social media seeing any of them.

I don't read news papers anymore, they are mostly gossip and BS these days. Sports is NOT news, nor are Celebrities or what they wear, My Daughters baby is far more important and relevant than any celebrity being pregnant, "Look at this rich persons wine cellar" can go get stuffed, and no, there are NO movies that are "Must See", nor is there and "Tourist hot spots" I must go to, or latest bathroom fashion.

Social media needs to die along with all the belly button fluff that has invaded the news.

Regular people rarely use twitter. It's 90% tech-heads and journalists.
This is an odd assertion to make, but the platform itself is the epitome of "YMMV" so I can only assume you've fallen victim to that, or are just guessing outright. In any case, I wouldn't agree one bit.

The thing about Twitter is that you can basically make your own echo chamber with whatever constituents you like. I would say my sphere of interaction is 50% "regular people," 25% politicians, and less than 10% each of journalists, geeks, and political activists. But clearly YMMV...

Twitter today announced that Twitter Blue subscribers in the United States now have access to the edit tweet feature that has been in testing for the last month.

Earlier this week, Twitter provided an edit button to Twitter Blue users in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand and promised a U.S. expansion, which has come quicker than expected.

The "Edit Tweet" button can be found alongside the the already available Delete Tweet, Pin to Profile, Change who can reply, and Add/remove from Lists options.

Tweets can be edited for up to 30 minutes after being sent, and tweets that have been changed are denoted with an "Edited" tag. Twitter provides a history of tweet edits, so the original tweet can continue to be viewed.

Twitter Blue is priced at $4.99 per month in the U.S. and it provides access to ad-free articles, various customization options, a bookmarks folder, an undo tweet option, early access to new Twitter features, and more.

How are the 80% of users that are bots going to pay to edit their tweets?

One thing I haven't seen answered is when a tweet is edited, does it lose all the likes/retweets?

So example if someone tweets something that immediately goes viral and Twitter's algorithm shows it all over the place, if they then edit that tweet to say something completely different will the edited tweet have the same value to the algorithm as the original and continue to be shown everywhere?
At that point, does it matter? It’d be super manipulated.

Thanks Elon. It literally only took, first the threat of a buy out, and then an actual buy out (we’ll see), to make them add a feature that easily could have been added 5+ years ago.

It’s such a stupid, no brainer feature. You make a typo and say one thing wrong, you have to delete your entire post and submit it again. I mean this is basic stuff, and twitter is like a ‘mature’ product now (its users are not).

It’s so funny to me that it took a billionaire disruptionary person like
Musk to literally force their hands into adding a trivial enhancement. And then they charge for it.

Also, I don’t use twitter, so what do I know.

It’s to fix typos and other small mistakes. It’s not to hide some outrageous thing you shouldn’t have posted to begin with.
Which is exactly why it's useless. No one needs to see the small typos and mistakes. The whole point of editing is so people see the correct version of what you wanted to say. If they can still see the mistakes then why fix them at all?

Quite the contrary:

• Edit is for correcting mistakes.

• History is for preventing reversal of meaning for something people liked.
Right, edit is for correcting mistakes. If everyone can still see the mistakes then there's really no point editing them out.

At least when your opinion is changed by the 'current thing', you have 30 mins to update your asinine tweets to be in line with all the other Wackos that go on there.
