Where do you get your official data from?

Lion hit over 1,000,000 downloads on the first day. Presumably, the vast majority of those downloads have been installed a minimum of 1 time. I don't know how many Mac users there are that can upgrade to Lion, but 1 million is not a small chunk of that number.

  1. My MacBook Pro has only got a Core Duo processor
  2. It's still working great.
  3. I've got no intention of upgrading it in the near future.

Which means I'll be sticking with Snow Leopard for a while. I have got Lion on my iMac which seems ok so far but it's not a chore to go back to using SL on the laptop.

The reason I will stick with SL is ... Lion has nothing I need or want

as the saying goes ... If it isn't broke ...

+1 also just ordered a 2010 Mini Refurb only because I really do not need a new one and not a big fan of Lion's features when SL does everything I need and it just works.

I dual-boot Lion and Snow Leopard in a 900GB/100GB configuration. Why do I do this?
  1. Parts of my workflow require Xcode 3.x, which Lion doesn't support
  2. MIDI bugs in Lion make working with MIDI files impossible
  3. I have a few legacy apps that will need a total rewrite to work in Lion

1. Older software compatibility issues.
2. I don't switch to version .0 of anything.
3. Need computer to work, for work. Will upgrade when necessary, am not enticed by shiny bits.

Reasons to wait (a while):
1. Hardware upgrades required for our older Mini 2.1 computers (2 G RAM).
2. Rosetta is gone
3. Incompatibility with iOS VNC apps.

Reasons not to wait (past mid 2012):
1. No "free" iCloud without Lion
2. No iCloud at all without Lion (?)
3. Should be supported by most 3rd party apps by then including "versions" "auto save" and other new Lion features

I upgraded the RAM in one of our Minis and the hard drive got wiped. :( I'm not sure how but there was no partition table on the thing after putting in the new RAM. I restored from crashplan (Time Machine backup was corrupted). From now on, crashplan is my main focus for backup and Time Machine is more of a convenience thing that I know I can't rely on.

As for not upgrading because I don't like the way it works, Lion is not that different from Snow Leopard and while it uses a bit more resources it is not a resource pig as far as I can tell so far.

My TOP 3 reasons to STICK with Leopard!

1 very stable no crash (10.5.8)
2 I am using PowerBook G4
3 Leopard is just like Snow Leopard!
