Editing bootcamp to get create USB install disk

Apparently my external drive isn't working to boot from on this machine. I want to us bootcamp to create a boot USB disk but the option is greyed out. I found instructions on editing the info.plst which I did using text edit but I still don't get the option. Not sure on the correct string, is this what I need to add?

Shows up as MacBookPro8,2 in system info.
