editing my host files could harm my mbp?

    so I would like to edit my host file "/private/etc/hosts" for illegal purposes or something like that.

    could editing the host cause any problems?

    thanks for quick reply. could you tell me how to save a backup from the terminal onto my hd?

    You can copy the file from location in Finder.

    Just what illegal purposes could you wish to pursue by editing your hosts file?

    avoiding photoshop's authentication thingy.
