    Hey!
Just wondering, does anyone know when the educational promotion beings this summer (the buy a mac, get a free ipod deal). Can anyone remember when the past couple years deals began?I fancy a new macbook now, but want to wait for the deal!

    Cheers
    Jon

last year it began in june and ended in september. if they do it this year, it will probably be around the same time. but you'll have to wait till then to see what it is!

Last year's promo ran from June 5th through September 16th in the US. Several other countries had similar promos in different timeframes.

August 1st through October 7th, to be exact. Rebates varied from £40-£100 depending on model of iPod purchased.

This puts me to shame, I live in the UK and was buying a computer at the same time .

Damn! I'm so waiting to get a Macbook this Fall. An Ipod with that would so great! Will we be able to upgrade to Leopard for free too because it's going to be released in October '07?

Maybe, too good to be true, but if I buy a Macbook pro using a student's ADC discount, would a free ipod be an option? I mean, I am a student!

That would be the icing on the cake. I would like to know the answer to that as I am buying a MBP through Student ADC as well. I'm guessing the answer is no though.:(

It did last year, except for the stripped-down "EDU-only" iMac that was briefly available to individuals.

Another note of warning: It also was NOT valid for Core 2 Duo iMacs and the new iPods introduced at the very tail end of the promotion.

    Most likely not.

I'd think the back-to-school ipod deal has similar terms and conditions.

Student developers...$99/year gets you a nice hardware discount. One per lifetime. Have a search through the threads here for more info.
