I'm looking to purchase my first mac this weekend at my local Apple Store. I was wondering if I could use education pricing there or if I could only do that online. If they do, all I need is my ID card, right?
Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/532.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0.5 Mobile/8B117 Safari/6531.22.7) Correct - take your student ID and yes you can get educational pricing at the Apple Store.
I am a student from Germany and i want to buy a macbook pro is there any possibility to get a student discount ?? Actually i live for some month in Mexico and study at a mexican university.. Other question: i know for example that cisco systems get discount in the apple shop... is there any list, in which i can see which company gets discount ? thank you! regards julian
Depending on your level of education (at Establishments negotiated rates) you will get a discount, even if is the basic amount. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/findyourschool
i am a student in germany at a university! but i think that is not enough to get a student discount in a us apple store or ?
If you wish to qualify for the edu discount in U.S, you need to be currently attending a U.S college (regardless of your citizenship). So, if you were a German citizen attending a U.S college, that would work. Otherwise, you can't qualify for edu. I had a brazilian professor ask me for edu discount, when i worked at apple retail, and we couldn't offer it to him because he isn't affiliated with any U.S college.
It's all dependent on who you talk to.... If your German uni ends in .edu you'll prob not have trouble. If it is edu.de. It might work but it depends on the salesperson. And most of them don't know what de stands for bc they are dumb. Tell them you talked to apple on the phone and they assured you that you would get the discount

If you're going to buy in Mexico, you can do it online from Apple web page, choosing "store para la educación". And have it shipped for free wherever you are in Mexico. The discounts apply. However they are not as high as in US. It is still cheaper, though, than in Germany or elsewhere in western Europe.
generally, no. The "Find Your School" is for teachers getting the discount. see here: http://store.apple.com/us_edu_162651/browse/home/education_routing
You could always sign up for an International Student Identity Card (ISCC) and you can pretty much get the student discount anywhere in the world. I am a Canadian but studying in the UK at the moment and have used this card for discounts at the Apple Store. I could def use my student ID from my uni but have pulled out my ISIC card for some reason.
MacBook Sale $799 The current white MacBook is on sale at Microcenter for $799 Much cheaper than the $949 student discount. MacBook 13.3" MC516LL/A Laptop Computer * Intel® Core 2 Duo Processor 2.4GHz * 2GB DDR3-1066 SDRAM * 250GB 5,400RPM Hard Drive * 13.3" Widescreen Display * SuperDrive Double Layer 8x DVD±RW Drive * NVIDIA GeForce 320M * 10/100/1000 Network * AirPort Extreme 802.11n Wireless Network * Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR * Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard This might mean there will be updates next week but I'm not sure what they would update the MacBook specs to... unless they also update the MacBook Pro
