I live in California so I have to pay taxes.

You made a blanket statement in your original post that Amazon was better ignoring all the states that now requires Amazon to charge tax (including the biggest, California). Thanks for correcting it so you don't sound so silly.

True, Californians get the short stick on taxes. Guess I didn't think my post completely through :p

Apple offers education discounts to almost everyone and this is bad, how?

It's not bad per se, its just a bit deceiving saying it is an "educational" discount, when in fact anyone can take part in it.

They check in stores, but not online. Hence why I buy online (plus the 8GB RAM Upgrade you can't get in store).

B&H in NY was one of the few, if not only, retailers that sells Macs to us Californians with no sales tax. I got my 128 GB 8 GB RAM from B&H in December 2012 for $1269 flat. If I bought it from Apple it was coming out to like $1340 I believe and that was with the education discount.

You dont have to be a student or teacher to get an educational discount - even if you simply work in an educational institution you get the discount as well - just need to show some evidence and you're good to go!

I provided the answer. You would rather start an argument because you got called on providing an answer that had already been provided.

I'm not planning on starting any arguments here, and I didn't even perceive you as "calling me out." In fact, I clicked on your link and pasted the quote from it. The point is, you can either be direct about providing information and nip the thread in the bud, or you can raise the noise level and make things a whole lot worse.

If it truly sticks in your craw that I provided a direct answer that required no one to click a link, I apologize that I interfered in your taking some personal stand against people refusing to google. But I perceive this forum as being here to provide information about various things Apple, not a place to expound on what people should or shouldn't do to make their behaviors more agreeable to those who don't tolerate asking google-able questions. And so, provide information is what I will continue to do. :)

People who buy in the store can't. You said it. Believe it or not, some people do not buy online.

...OK.

The Edu deal, online is a better deal, online, compared to Amazon.com, online. We've clearly been talking about, yep, you guessed it, online.

Thanks?

Will I need to show proof that I qualify if I order online but pick it up in store? I do qualify, but am wondering if I'll need to bring my university badge.
