I have a 2019 16inch MBP
Here's my audio setup:
Headphones: MBP --> Caldigit TS3+ --> AudioTechnica ATH-M40x
Speakers: MBP --> Caldigit TS3+ --> Mackie CS8S-XBT sub + Pioneer DJ DM-50D-BT-W

Both output via the headphone jack.

Truthfully the system sounds good when listening to music while working. Especially speakers and sub. AT's don't have the bass that some other headphones have but definitely get the bass with the sub/pioneers. From what I understand the Caldigit has an alright DAC (Cmedia 6533) inside:
Is it worth buying the Schiit stack (Magni and Modi) ($200) to improve the sound? I'm not sure the Schiit DAC will provide a noticeable improvement over the caldigit for either the speakers (via line level passthrough) or headphones. Also, not sure I need a headphone amp since I'm not pushing near max volumes to get the sound level I want from the amp.

I'm a bit of an audiophile but already put $$$ in my main system (7.1 Aperion verus grands, Hsu sub, emotiva amp) which is as close to to perfection as you can get for mid to high 4 figures on home audio. I don't need to go nuts with super expensive gear for my workstation but if $200 would improve the sound quality I'd do it. Thoughts?
