EFI update could (hypothetically) allow 4GB RAM in May 07 MacBooks?

    god how many times does it have to be said...ITS THE CHIPSET that limits the supported memory Santa Rosa CAN the earlier chipsets did not have support for that much memory[/typed before i saw canadaram's post]

    If I had seen it -- therefore meaning I would have known that this was false -- I wouldn't have asked about it.

    The source of the initial quote is fairly legitimate, so I'm surprised to discover it's obviously a misinformed quote.

    It's not personal, DA, and it's not asking a question that annoys other members.

    It's starting a new thread that has been answered many times on MR already, and is answered in the Guides, which are a permanent reference to frequently asked questions.

    So go ahead and ask questions, but do a Search or look through the Guides first.

    I don't understand technical aspects so well, so I wouldn't have made the connection myself.
