Platform game Eggggg - The Platform Puker has been named Apple's App of the Week, and as a result, it is free to download for the first time since it was released in October.

Described as a two-touch platform game about vomit, Eggggg features a main character, Gilbert, who has a severe allergy to eggs. Eating eggs makes Gilbert vomit, and the vomit mechanic is used to propel Gilbert through 21 levels infested with angry cyborg chickens and other obstacles to overcome.

The game features smooth controls designed for mobile devices, and it comes with a sticker pack that can be used in the Messages app. From Apple's App Store description:
With Free App of the Week, we highlight a great app you can enjoy at no charge this week. (In-App Purchases sold separately). A severe allergy to eggs isn't funny -- unless it hatches a fantastic voyage through a world full of golden nuggets, homicidal chickens, and puke. So. Much. Puke. The controls in this bizarrely clever platformer are spot on, but sometimes we're giggling so hard at our barf-propelled hero that we slip up and die laughing. It truly is an Eggggg-cellent adventure.
Eggggg - The Platform Puker will be available for free from the App Store for the next seven days. [Direct Link]

How does this get to be the app of the week?????

Next weeks game: Stubber, the game where you stub your toe on every object as you walk through your house.

Followed by clutz. The game where you clumsily walk into everything and try to get through 5 miles of city blocks without falling into a car or a sharp object.

Seriously questioning how they pick the app of the week. There's so many other apps out there. I'd rather download an app that killed my phone. At least that would present an interesting challenge.

Looks like they are running out of apps to promote. What's next? A 32 bit app promoted? Some of the apps promoted have had requirements of iOS 8. Why would they promote old app developer that haven't updated? They should be trying to force ppl to update by using this section.

Wow the negativity is strong today! What's wrong with this App? It's a nice looking platform game and plays well. It also offers Apple TV and iMessage stickers so it promotes other Apple services. It's also received recent updates and added content.

Sure the content is quirky, but this fits in with the spirit of the platform game genre whereby the concept is quite strange if you think about it too much. Super fast hedgehogs, Italian plumbers, Magical Turbo Hat Adventure, The Incredible Shrinking Fireman, etc.

Don't forget fart apps because we know how intellectually stimulating those are

Agreed, the more I look at this app the more I question Apple's rationale.

I'm holding out for Super Nighttime Lego Carpet Run.

It's pretty generic honestlyand extremely boring, already deleted it. Definitely NOT free app of the week material.

No need to play it. Editorial / brand damage is already questioned by its name. Even if it's an awesome game, the concept of the game is not exactly inline with apples family friendly image?

Pretty good game.
I even got selected to beta test their next game called Pooppppp where you eat as much taco bell as you can and then you use the diarrhea to try to propel yourself to space.

Eating spoiled eggs for fun and vomit like there's no tomorrow. And this got through the Apple's iTunes Submit Filter Team. Makes you wonder.

Maybe look up the meaning of "Puke" , and after that google "brand reputation" . After google prejudice .

you are completely missing the point . No one here is questioning the gameplay, might as well be the worlds best game ....

So if next weeks app of the week was a "fart" app with awesome gameplay , you would see no issue here .... ?
