Hi,

I'm looking for a solution to connect my MacBook Pro 2015 into a DELL UP3214Q with the resolution of 3840 x 2160 (2160p/4K UHD 1 - Ultra High Definition). The screen works great on my cMP 5,1 with a RX580 card. However, if I connect the mini-display port directly into my MacBook, the screen does not power up.

What solution do you recommend? I was thinking to purchase an ASUS XG Station PRO combined with a RX Vega 64. Is there another solution other than eGPU which will allow me to power my Dell monitor with my MacBook as video source?

Thanks

Is this a 13 or a 15? I have Dell U2718Q (4K) monitors and I can run one of these off of my 2014 MBP 15 (integrated graphics) with no problems. I also have a 2015 13 and a 2015 15 with AMD graphics but I haven't tried those with the 4K displays. I use the HDMI port to drive the 4K displays.

I purchased different types of 3feet cables, hoping I will find one that works with a mini DisplayPort connector. The only cable that worked flawlessly with my 32inch 4K Dell UP3214Q was a Moread, $7.50 on Amazon. Really happy, I did not wanted another box on my desk.
