Hello,
I’m trying to figure out the best solution to my problem, while also questioning if it would work at all! I have owned an iMac Pro (Vega 56) for about a year and get great gaming performance on MacOS, however I recently started playing games on Windows 10 Bootcamp with very poor performance. GTA V plays on 4K with 15-20fps while I play games on MacOS in 5K with 60fps. I would love to connect a eGPU to improve this performance as the iMac is very powerful with the exemption of the graphics card.

List of games:
Sims 4 / MacOS / 5K Ultra / 72fps
Civilization VI / MacOS / 4K Ultra / 65fps
StarCraft 2 / MacOS / 4K Ultra / 70fps
Anno 1800 / Bootcamp / 4K Ultra / 24fps
GTA V / Bootcamp / 4K High / 15fps
Witcher 3 / Bootcamp / 4K Ultra / 10fps
Battlefront 2 / Bootcamp / 4K Ultra / 22fps

I would appreciate any help with these questions :
1. Would this connection work (iMac Pro —> Razor Core Chroma —> LG 55 C9 OLED TV)?
2. Which graphics card should I purchase (RTX 2080 TI 11GB / RX 5700XT / AMD VII) also would I still be able to play with the Vega 56 on the iMac screen when not using the eGPU?
3. Would the performance be greatly improved ex. 60fps on 4K?

I’m hoping Apple will eventually add full native eGPU Bootcamp support, which is why I’m slightly bias to an AMD card.

If you have an iMac with a running eGPU on bootcamp please leave any feedback about your experience or any useful tips.

Thank you for your time!

I’ve been trying to set up my eGpu with an AMD Radeon VII, to my iMac Pro 2017, for months!!
Egpu.io has an amazing guide to doing this.
However, I have yet to actually get it to work. With trying just about everything I’ve seen on the internet, the furthest I’ve gotten it is to show windows in a secondary display via the egpu and then immediately crash lol.
So if you ever figured it out PLZ I’d love to hear how! Ps. I’d legit be willing to pay for someone to figure this one out at this point.
But to answer your question, all three of them. In theory all of that is totally possible and has been done on a number of other builds. But I haven’t found a documented successful one with iMac Pro -AMD eGpu. But it should be possible
