Good news. Apple (and Microsoft) have quietly fixed eGPU support (for Intel Macs) in the latest Big Sur / Windows versions.
This week I used Big Sur to create a new Bootcamp installation for my eGPU setup.
The experience in Windows is now much more of the fun "camping" part, and a lot less of the former "getting kicked in the head by a boot" part.
My Breakaway Box 650 with AMD RX 5500 XT GPU are working well in Windows 2004 20H2.
