Hi guys,

I’m wondering if anyone knows whether it’s possible to connect a PCIe Expansion Chassis (like the Cubix Xpander) to an iMac using a Thunderbolt 3 x16 eGPU box?

Will the iMac be able to detect and work with all of the peripherals through the single TB3 connection?

Obviously bandwidth is going to be a concern. But if the communication does work between them, would stuffing multiple GPUs into the Cubix potentially be viable for additional computing power?

Thunderbolt enclosures with multiple slots like the Sonnet Echo Express III-D (Thunderbolt 3 Edition) or the Sonnet Echo Express IIIe are basically the same thing as a Thunderbolt enclosure with a single slot (like an eGPU box or the Sonnet Echo Express SE I (Thunderbolt 3 Editition)) connected to a Cubix.

Multiple GPUs connected to a single Thunderbolt device or Thunderbolt port should work:
