ifo AppleStore is now posting two new sites for future openings of Apple retail stores. They are the Carousel Center, Syracuse, New York and Pioneer Place, Portland, Oregon. No opening date is announced yet, but it seems likely that they will not open before next Spring.

So this is the whole list:

1 - Legacy Village, Lyndhurst, Ohio to open 10/24/03 at 10:00 am.

2 - University Town Center, San Diego, California to open 10/24/03 at 8:00 pm (Thanks, Doctor Q, who found out the right month.)

4 - The Village at Corte Madera, California to open 11/01/03 at 10:00 am.

8 - North Point Mall, Alpharetta, Georgia to open 11/22/03.

9 - Ginza Shopping District, Tokyo, Japan to open Dec. '03 (although there has been at least one report of a Nov. 30th opening.)

Sometime after Jan 01, 2004 and before May 2004 at least three (including the San Francisco location) of the following stores will open

1 - Aventura Mall, Aventura, Florida.

2 - South Park Mall, Charlotte, North Carolina.

3 - The Shops at Mission Viejo, Mission Viejo, California.

4 - Union Square, San Francisco, California.

In addition store openings are reported to happen in the future at the Carousel Center, Syracuse, New York and Pioneer Place, Portland, Oregon, and a likely fall 2004 Eastern Shore Center, Spanish Fort, Alabama.

I'm so glad for the SF store. I thought Apple would never infiltrate Frisco because they always applauded the CompUSA displays there. I'll be at that opening for sure!

Update

The previous opening date for the Old Orchard store in Skokie of November 8th is now moved (by Apple's offical announcement) to November 7th at 6:00 pm.

No offical word yet on the Tucson and Tigard stores that looked to have opened on the same date.

Lord help us, there are four more apple stores being planned

I wish they'd put an apple store downtown around Pike, it would fit in perfectly with all the other high end shopping stores [FAO, Kenneth Cole, Tiffany's, and tons of other stuff...]

I bet California could use a dozen more tho... In a 4 block radius, if it's possible...

If you follow the historical pattern, it seems that once Apple has a store in one area, they are more willing to open other stores in the same region/state. I assume this is because it doesn't cost much more to send a larger bulk shipment in the same truck. It's getting that first store into the area that is difficult.

Also, I think some of the decisions are driven by pure snobbery. Middle America will continue to be overlooked for some time.

For what it's worth, the Tucson Apple Store isn't open yet. La Encantada, the mall, is open. But ifo Apple Store predicts the 13th (of December).

The store looks complete from the outside, but all the windows were papered over so I couldn't see inside.

Uh, not that anyone else really cares. :D
