Our Sleep Number does a lot of the same thing (except cooling really) while it costs less and has a long-standing reputation. These are great innovations, but they need to be built to be supported and relevant for minimum of 10 years. It's a mattress. It's heavy and hard to replace, plus what a waste. I sure as hell will not be upgrading our mattresses every year. lol

I wonder why it needs refilled every 2-3 months. That’s 1-1.5 L of water loss every month in what I would imagine should be a closed loop system which at its longest reaches maybe 1 meter away from the pump.

Are the losses at the “hub” or somehow inside the mattress cover? For something with such a high price tag for what is otherwise foam, they should have lower losses and be better engineered.

I would say most people have at least a queen size bed. So, just for turds and giggles, I checked the price. $2,900 for queen. $3,300 for king. Unreal.
Fast forward a couple years..."Due to lack of sales, customers will need to pay a monthly subscription for their bed to continue to work".

You're really upset about spending $3k for something you spend 33% of your life on?

I'm sure some really, really struggle getting a good night's rest... thus varieties of beds, apps, and now this to sell a solution. For me, this sounds like tech chasing something that likely doesn't need it. If there's fluid change, and pumps necessary... this is potentially sounds like a noisy option that is prone to break down, and not do it's job well. Kinda like the heavy, chunky self-lacing shoes with a need for batteries released a few years ago.

It's a real shame that so many smart home products are overcomplicated solutions for suckers.

You want to control temperate in your bed? Use any normal bed and mattress, and set your radiator. In fact, you can do that from your phone, by getting a $70 smart radiator valve. You'll have $2,525 left for a nice trip somewhere when the pandemic is over.

I think this mostly benefits couples that have different temperature needs. My partner loves the room warm, I love the room cold.

I’ve had mine for a year and it’s still using the water I started with after initializing the system. I am not sure where the 2-3 month number comes from.

OK, your experience makes sense to me - their marketing didn't! Maybe they're being cautious so the opposite doesn't happen, they claim it "nearly never" needs refilling but it does need it in dry climates.

What about for a "Thruple" - can it be divided into 3 zones? Asking for a friend
Nothing wrong with a thruple.

This actually sounds like a neat product, but I truly don’t understand how they can sell a $3000+ (more if you buy the accessory bundle) mattress and not offer at least some choice in firmness. My very high quality latex mattress cost less than half what this does, is still going strong after 5+ years (and looks like it will easily last 3x that at least—no app to worry about supporting either), and, I was able to sample about 20 different options in terms of mattress feel before buying (different combos of layers of springs and foam).

The cooling option sounds amazing, but why would I replace a mattress that’s absolutely the perfect combination of soft and supportive with something twice the price, which may or may not be as comfortable on its own?

A mattress with wi-fi and EMFs all over it. Yeah, that'll help you sleep well
Dude, I sleep just as well in a bath of EMF as I do in the middle of nowhere. Call us when you have a double-blind study.

A competitor of theirs, the Ooler by Chili Technology, does the same cooling/heating but provides a cover that goes over your existing mattress. My wife and I got it after it was recommended by Peter Attia. it has been working great! Still expensive but much cheaper than this! https://www.chilitechnology.com/products/ooler-sleep-system
I was interested until they started trying to get me to sign up for emails and then texts just to see their sale prices. Also, apparently these tend to break just a little while after the 90 day warranty expires.

And then they will move to a subscription model and force customers to pay monthly to use their app to control their bed.

I’m not upset at all. 😆 It doesn’t improve sleep over a mattress at half the cost. It is over valued. Sorry I hurt your feelings. Cover yours with a sheet, and it can be your little secret. I‘m no grinch when it comes to sleep. I’m no fool, either.

You've also never slept on one I assume? Maybe you don't suffer from a really hot sleep? I own the non pro version, and I don't really care about internet criticism, but maybe just say "not for me" or something. Your conjecture is this will break, and who knows, maybe it will, but "It doesn't improve sleep over a mattress at half the cost" What is your basis for that statement? My sleep HAS improved dramatically. I sleep all through the night because it keeps me nice and cool. I get all the sleep metrics as a bonus. My girlfriend doesn't like it cold, and she would be annoyed by the two fans I have going if it wasn't for the fact that I can turn her side up nice and toasty, it took awhile for her to say it wasn't "too hot" but we found her ideal temperature too. So now two people, with very different sleep temperature needs, are both happy.

Joke's on you. I have no feelings.
