Yeah, I know the example I gave was false. That was my point. I was illustrating the fallacy being used here with a more accessible metaphor.

And feel free to talk all you want about the philosophy of infinity, just don't call it a science if all you're doing is opining about your beliefs. That isn't science. It isn't wrong either, but it isn't science.

The problem with this "logic trap" is that you would eventually reach a certain "point" where distances become the same no matter how much you try "halving them." A point in space is space folded in on itself. You can't move half a point because a point is the distance itself. You would always eventually reach the door because the distance is a set number of points of space. This is true even if you discount or don't adhere to the theory of "spacing folding in on itself when you reach a certain mathematical size."

Hmm... interesting. I don't think you can say the distance is a set number of points in space because a point, by definition, has no dimension. Still kind of interesting.

Or you could just write it as an infinite sum and compute the limit.

I am starting to wonder if the universe or multiverse was never meant to be truly figured out by humans...

Exactly lol It is non existant and seen as nothing because it can not be measured within any specific amount of 'space'. Only mankind as bright as they are would call "space" with a label that limits it to a finite space. To occupy a space is trying to signify some sort of mass has occured. The mass has only occured to the limited (spaced?) thinking brain that is calling it a space occupied.

Do you mean the glass has barriers (bottom, sides) but that they're spaced an infinite distance apart, or that there are actually no bottom or sides at all? I would not call a glass with no bottom or sides a glass.

That's like saying imagine a chair with no legs, back, or seat.
Or imagine a car with no wheels, engine, or chassis.

The object's description contradicts it's label to the point where the label loses all meaning.

Might show why we say curiosity killed the cat

Because humans for some reason think anything they want to know about is their business to know about. I guess it wouldn't be a bad thing if humans were of a species that did not judge with what they knew. But most are. They like to endorse or stop things that they like or dont like. Many are not willing to let things be as they will be. Or let the chips fall as they may without stepping in to alter history to a more "favorable" outcome. Which if your speaking about truth. And are willing to make truth become a more favorable outcome. Then you know the lie already had begun.

If the space being measured is unmeasurable due to no end and beyond. How can you really give a density measurement unless your doing your measuring within the limits of something- Space goes forever and ever with no something to limit it. Just because we are in a place of existance within limits does not mean what is beyond us falls into the same category. Imagine a glass that can never be filled with anything. It will never amount to a mass because there is no bottom or side or top.
Both density and mass can be determined independent of size and shape. We have measured both empirically.

Space most certainly contains mass.

Yes. the lie was in the begining of labeling it a chair in the first point. The lie is within the label. Also the labels used to describe what was being put together as a chair was a lie. The meaning was built upon a want to describe such as what you wished to describe it. Even though it to itself was not what you wished to call it. If i call you a jerk. But you did not believe me, and I managed to gather support by others to hold you to that label. Would you be lying when you told me that you were not a jerk? Even though everyone else in existance thought that you were a jerk? No we would all be lying as much as whatever you would call us.

God tried to show us through the story of his son and those sitting on the crosses next to jesus that they were no more a criminal than those that labeled them (the prey)criminals by those labeled "the authority's"(predator or overbearing force). The world was created so yes a idea behind the stronger can survive. And it doesn't matter how mean and wrong and deceptive you are. If you outlast then you won over the weaker. The strong became smart (or dumb?)enough to play the sympathetic ear and act like they were the victims in life to another. So you should do harm to those that would harm "us". Its the same story over and over. Same types of people behind the same types of wants and needs in doing harm to other's for doing "wrong doing's".

That's the way we're hardwired. Makes it possible to create things like the computer or device you're reading this on. Makes it possible to understand another's thoughts by looking at a bunch of black squiggles.

OK, at this point we've strayed from Einstein. I'd normally move the thread into the Politics, Religion, Social Issues forum. But since you're the thread starter but are not eligible to post in there, then I have no choice but to close this thread.

It was fun while it lasted.
