I have tried SMC/PRAM reset, Safe Boot (Held down SHIFT at startup), and also added new location under Network Preferences, but i am not getting connection when i plug in Eithernet on my MBA using adapter..

I have gone through two dongles and a new either cable thinking that was the problem, but it isn't

When i plug in Ethernet cable, i get no indication in either Network Utility or no LED on router..

This is 2017 MPA, and didn't get Applecare, so it's out of warranty. Would be good to get this into the Apple Store, would better to get a new Mac... It is 2 years old.

I currently am only using Wi-Fi, but i need Eithnet connection (sole purpose when come do large copies of files over to NAS 40GB+ total size and above.) Not even gonna attempt this time over Wi-fi

I'll test it on my Mac mini.

Update: it worked on Mac mini fine.

I've seen plenty of Thunderbolt ports die in the 2012-2017 MacBook Airs. Could be that... 9 times out of 10, these symptoms lead me to that diagnosis.

I agree that this makes the issue seem like one specific to the MBA. Without knowing what OS version it's running on the MBA, what OS is running on the MacMini, exactly which model Mini, and exactly what dongle is involved it is impossible to make any suggestion that isn't a pure wild guess.

That said, my "wild guess" is the dongle requires some service present on the MacMini.
