Looking at the Eizo CG319X but wanted to know if anyone here is using it with a Mac and macOS and can tell me how OS scaling works with it. What options do I have if not doing 2x/200% scaling at 2048x1080? Is there a 2560 x 1350 for example?

Also, with the OS scaling not at 2x (or 1x), is the text all blurry and problematic?

For me, 2x/200% scaling makes the UI too large.

Curious at to what other owners think.

I just had this monitor delivered to me and I have hooked it up and calibrated it with the built-in calibration hardware. I am currently using connected to my 2017 iMac but am supposed to get a Mac Studio in May sometime. I am not having any issues with scaling/text clarity on my monitor. If I sit reasonably close, I can read the text at full 4K resolution on the screen. However, some may find it easier to use with text and icons a bit larger. 3360 x 1772 is just fine or, if youw want large text, then 3008x 1586 is extremely easy to work with. Your mileage may vary, but my initial concern was how this monitor would work for my non-photo use. I frequently work remotely and log into my work computer (a 5K iMac) and it is no problem at all for me to do this with excellent clarity of text. Now, this is really early days yet for my use of the monitor, but so far I am pleased tho, of course, I wish it were a bit less pricey. Hope this helps.

That's great, thanks! Is it possible to post a screenshot that shows all the available resolutions you can choose from the video preferences - like the attached I have? Thanks! Also, are you a photo or video editor? That's what I do, and that's why I'm looking at the CG319X.

I did three screenshots. I did no show ALL the resolutions as it took three just to get the main options. Let me know if you need more information. I did decrease the resolution in an effort to make the window more legible on a screen shot. Let me know if you cannot read it.

I am just a photographer though I do print my work and sell some images and want to do the best work I can. I had thought about getting a Mac Studio Display, but the lack of sophistication of the panel (8 bit, no local dimming, under 90% Adobe RGB) put me off. I next considered the NEC PA311D as it is supposed to be an excellent panel but when I spoke with NEC to ask them some questions, I learned it was discontinued though they said it would be supported for the length of the warranty. It seems that Sharp acquiring NEC is not good for those who like higher color accuracy in their displays as NEC has no plans for a comparable replacement. I was nervous about long term hardware and software support so I eliminated the NEC from consideration. This led me to debate between BenQ SW321C and this Eizo. The BenQ is much less costly, but seems to lack quality control/uniformity compared to the Eizo, is an 8-bit panel, and their software is not as polished as the Eizo from what I can tell. So as to avoid second guessing myself, I decided to get the Eizo despite the cost. Time will tell, but so far I have no regrets. I did not consider the Asus options as their offerings are a bit confusing to me and I don't have need for HDR and the cost of their better panels was close enough to where I thought just get the Eizo....

I did three screenshots. [...]
You can take a screenshot of just a single window by pressing [Command]+[Shift]+[4] followed by the spacebar. The pointer will turn into a camera. Move it over the window you want to take a screenshot of, then click.

Thanks so much! The screenshots do look a bit fuzzy with the text and icons, and that's my concern. Could be just the compression on the screenshots, though mine looks sharper.

I hear ya on the NEC. I'm using a 27" NEC that I love, but it's no longer supported. Same panel as the Eizo CG279x. NEC and Eizo make (made) the best monitors with hardward calibration and 3D LUT uploads. So that's all I'm considering. The Apple displays are more for consumers. That nano-texture makes things fuzzy and is a PITA to clean. The glossy is welll, glossy, so no thanks. But the real issue is they don't have hardware/3DLUT calibration. So yeah, Eizo CZG319X looks like the only real option.

I am happy to take screenshots at whatever resolution you like. I think I used 3008x1586 for the ones I uploaded. I can also take a photo of the screen and upload the photo (or email it to you) at whatever resolution you provide. Here is one more screenshot at the resolution you inquired about: 2560x1350.

Thanks. I did not know that. However, I then would have had to take three screenshots of the window as the list was not expandable to include all options at once from what I can tell.

Thanks. Not sure why they are so fuzzy - is it the compression? Weird. But if you don't notice a difference in sharpness between the native 4096x2048/100% vs. larger, scaled, I'll take your word for it!

When I look at the screenshots on the forum, the look fuzzier to me than the screen does in real life. I won't swear that the scaled larger options are 100% as sharp as the native 4k resolution, but they are very close to my eyes and absolutely no problem for me. Let's say I don't notice the difference but someone who is very picky might see a difference. I know a lot of folks have espoused the benefits of 5K displays due to scaling problems with 4K. I have not tried to use a 27" 4K display, but on the 31.1" 4K display, I just don't see what the problem is. I think the 5k is a bit sharper scaled to 200%, but the differences are minor to me. Indeed, if I sit close, I can use native resolution on my Eizo and for images, there is no substitute. For text, larger sizes may well be preferable for most.

So you're saying that the 5K iMac at 200% (native scaling) looks very good, and the Eizo at 4k about the same. But what about the Eizo scaled to 3360 or 3308?

They are fuzzy because the forum software has shrunk them to a width of 2000 pixels. Images wider than 2000 pixels are automatically shrunk. You need to upload them elsewhere and link to them to show them in full size.

Again, I think text looks very good at both of those resolutions. I don't want to say 100% as good but for me it is so close as to be a non-issue.

B&H says not compatible with M1 Macs. Weird, as the Eizo website says different and Color Navigator 7.1.7 seems compatible. What cable are you using BTW?

I am using this cable: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B099S1PTHC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1

As for compatibility, I think a lot of manufacturers had to issue software updates for the M1 Macs. I know that was true for the NEC monitors. I think they all ironed those issues out. I certainly hope so! I have not found anything on the website addressing the Mac Studio, but here is what I did find: https://www.eizoglobal.com/support/db/products/compatibility/CG319X

If you find anything negative, please advise. I bought it from B&H less than a week ago....

Yeah, I think it will be fine. It's just software, and that's been adressed. I'll ask B&H, but I doubt any issues. They just probably need to update their product description to be up to date.

In the interest of full disclosure, I did find banding in the test pattern that the calibration software creates on the Eizo. That is the only place I have noticed banding and it is not important (and is somewhat subtle) as it is not part of the calibration or anything--it is just for eyeball checking greyscale. I have not seen anything like that on photoshop or lightroom or any other program but I think I will call Eizo and ask next week about this. Please post anything you learn from B&H that might be of concern. :)

FYI I just got my Mac Studio today (finally!). I hooked it up to my monitor via USB-C to Displayport and had no trouble at all. Of course, as the documentation specifies, a second cable (USB-A) is required for the Calibration features to communicate between the monitor and the computer with the Color Navigator software. Hope this helps someone.

Good to know. I haven't yet pulled the trigger - waiting another 2 months or so.

Well, waiting on monitor or Mac Studio? If you order now, for other than base models, might take a couple of months to get it!

On the monitor - to decide. I need to get some new cameras and other gear first.

i recently bought (from BandH) an Eizo EV3285, which is performing excellently with my MacBook m1 max pro. I've been using Eizo's for years and then never disappoint. The EV3285 replaced two NEC 242Ws, which are now connected to a late 2020 last iteration MacBook and work beautifully.

Wonderfull monitor. Beside the CG3146 probably the best Eizo has to offer. 4k for 32" seems perfect fit.
I really like to know your experiences so far. Especially if you already bought a Mac Studio.
I' m still thinking about this choice:
1. Mac Studio Max + Eizo CG2700S (2k)
2. (keep my 2019 5k iMac) Just get a new Eizo CG2700S (connecting it to current iMac); can you tell how well this works?
Thank you very much!

The Eizo CG2700S looks amazing!

I am wondering how long it is going to take for some of those features to filter down into the CS line. The current CS2731 doesn't have True Black or a preset DCI-P3 colorspace. Would love to get the CG2700S, but right now could really save the extra grand, so am hoping an updated CS comes out sooner than later.

@SpotOnT. Agree with you (CG2700S looks amazing). I’ve seen this new Eizo “in real life” ….indeed amazing (unfortunately I couldn’t try it out for a longer period). Eizo CG2700S is for pre-order €2334,- where I live. Later this year the 4k CG2700X . Price yet unknown, but I guess quite a bit more expensive.
What about the 4k CS2740.
