I have not actually tried that. Will do so when I get home from work.

However, prior to this issue, I never had to have the disc highlighted. Just pressed the eject button and the drive spit it out.

Weird that this is also not working in bootcamp. It USED to work there as well.

Okay so NOTHING works-Even highlighting the CD to eject. The mute and volume up and down buttons work FINE-but no eject. TOO WEIRD.

Okay, two more ideas.

One, is it possible under Leopard on a MacBook/Pro to reassign the eject key to something else (or nothing)? If so, you may have accidentally done that.

Two, you could try zapping the PRAM.

Other than that, I'd second celticpride678's advice of taking it to your local AppleStore.

Seeing this thread made me push my eject button for ***** and giggles since it always makes the eject sound whether there's a disc or not, and lo and behold--it's no longer working now that I have 10.5.8 installed. Command+E is also no longer working.

Granted, I don't have a disc in there nor one around currently to try checking with putting an actual disc in, but what I know is that the eject button used to work without a disc in it and it no longer does.

Must be a 10.5.8 change??

I am thinking so-my mac Mini will no longer eject with the button either?!?

EDIT-AND the volume and mute buttons work on the mini too.

WTF Apple?

Anybody's eject working with 10.5.8?

Okay I am now on my Macbook that still has 10.5.7. Eject button works, even with NO DISC in the drive.

None of my 10.5.8 installations will eject.

Does ANYONE using 10.5.8 have a functioning eject button?
