El Cap lags exactly like Yosemite. Nothing changed

Anyone who makes a lag thread regarding any piece of Apple Software should be required to try Touchwiz on the Galaxy S3. It was the definition of lag. It was as though the phone was streaming its OS on EDGE.

I don't really get all the whining about 'lag'. So something takes an extra half-second to complete, it's not that important.

Seems like I am one of the few people who remembers the days when the attitude wasn't 'everything, now-now-now!', and people could actually wait for their computer to do something.

The liquify module can show all the layers (and now it can show guides too) from the advanced options but the preview is just ******.

Thanks. 4GB is this model's max, unfortunately, but will look into SSD upgrade first.

I'm in the same boat. I have 6GB of Ram and a SSd/HD hybrid that works pretty well on my 2007 MBP with Yosemite. A little nervous to upgrade to El Cap, but don't really want to invest in a SSD at this point since my machine is so old and Skylake is due to be put in Macs in 2016. Might just hold for a new machine instead of risking the slowness of a new OS.

I did a clean install on Mid 2012 MBPr and it has zero lag. Smooth as butter.

I get even more agressive when people with an iPhone 6 complain about iOS 9 vs. iOS 8.4.1 lag and are totally freaked out then can't roll back to 8.4.1 since yesterday (Apple stopped signing).

Try to use Windows 8.1 or 10, that's lag.

So I actually did upgrade to El Cap. It works pretty well for me, but I know results may vary. Happy I made the upgrade, but still at your own risk. As for how it works compared to SL, hard to remember to be honest, but I think having the hybrid HD/SSD certainly helps.
