EL Capitan - iPhoto issues

For some reason I can not figure out what is wrong with iPhoto/Photo for Mac. After upgrading to El Capitan on my old 2010 MacBook Pro everything else is running fine except iPhoto. Any suggestions?

It's a known bug. Anyone on a 2010 MBP is unable to open photos.

I've seen this as well (2010 MBP).
