El Capitan Sans StartUp Chime

Upgraded to El Capitan on a 2012 Mac Mini Running Yosemity

Full Shut Down and Reboot then noticed something was missing, the StratUp Chime.

Was this intentional or did something go awry with the Upgrade.

The startuput chime volume depends on your value audio volume. If you set the volume to 0, it will not play.
