This evening I updated El Capitan on my 2011 MBP, and the keyboard auto lighting stopped working.

If "adjust keyboard brightness in low light" is checked, the keyboard illumination stays off at all times, even when obscuring the light sensor - uncheck it and the keyboard lighting stays on and is adjustable with the keys or the slider.

Is there any way to correct this, or do I need to wait for the next OS update?

Edit: my wife's 2010 is working normal after the update.
