So like many who have kids and a nice fluffy couch, I tend to lose my Apple remote a good amount, either by the couch deciding to eat the remote or one of the kids taking off with it and leaving it somewhere, It got to the point I switched over to the Roku Ultra so to have the Find my remote feature but I couldn't handle the UI and had to come back to Apple TV. I wasn't going to 3D print a case so when I saw the R5 I figured I would give it a try.

Overall the case is very nice, its a thick case, not only thick silicone but overall it's thick to hold the AirTag but it's also very flexible to easily place and remove the AirTage and remote. The silicone case is completely sealed at the bottom so you never feel the AirTage on the bottom of your hand and gives it a smooth surface for the remote to sit on without worry of the AirTag scratch the surface it's on. And it has a nice lanyard attached so if your kids are playing Apple Arcade games and decide to swing their hands the remote doesn't come out flying and hit the TV (RIP LG OLED)

I went with the Glow in the Dark case since I figured it would help to find it easier when the room is dark but overall I'm disappointed in the "glowness". It doesn't get very bright at all (Think a very dim dieing LED diode light) if you have good eyes you will be able to see it but it only glows for maybe 10 minutes at best and that was with me holding a flashlight next to it for a few minutes, so if you're wanting the case for its glow in the dark properties you may want to reconsider.

The ergonomics is somewhat weird and will take some time to get used to, This whole time I am used to holding a flat remote that weighs almost nothing, Now with the Remote, Case, And AirTage is weighed right around 4oz which may not seem like a lot but you can defiantly feel the difference, I am sure it also has to do with the remote now being almost a hump in your hand now instead of a flat rectangle its always been.

Overall for $15 with Free Shipping, I think its worth it if you want an easy way to attach an AirTag to the Apple Remote and not have to worry about losing the remote again, Unlike the 3D printed versions this fits smooth in the hand and holds both the remote and AirTag without the worry of anything scratching the surface of what you place the remote on, etc. However, if you wanted the case for the Glow in the Dark properties or don't have the Airtag then I would recommend checking out another case that you can purchase for almost half the price.

I ordered the blue one, and it should be delivered tomorrow. Currently I’m using a piece of 1/4" thick, self sticking foam rubber that is designed to go on the bottom of furniture legs to prevent them from sliding around. I stuck it on the back of my remote. It works pretty well, and if this case doesn't work I’ll go back to that. Most people will probably turn their noses up to a thick remote, but for an old guy like me with severe arthritis in my hands thick remotes are easier to hold and operate than the thin ones.

My only major complaint about the new remote is that darn Siri button which I keep accidentally pressing. I thought being left handed my thumb wouldn't activate it by accident, and it doesn't. But when I reach over to pick up the remote I do accidentally hit that button quite a bit. I only activate it by accident when picking up the remote, and never while holding it. I'm hoping this case will make that a bit less likely to happen. A lot of similar cases for remotes make pressing side buttons less sensitive, so hopefully this case will too. I might cut out the rubber over the Siri button which should make it even harder to activate. Since I don't use Siri, I don't need that button anyway.

mine arrives tomorrow.

I also tend to hit the siri button a lot, maybe a couple times a week (I'm right handed), hoping the case helps with that that.

it really feels like apple only tests remotes while sitting at a desk, and placing it nicely beside the keyboard in a special tray while they work on code for it. and not while sitting on a couch and dropping it beside them, or in their lap.

My blue elago R5 Locator case arrived yesterday afternoon. Looks good and works well. I cut out the Siri button portion so it wouldn’t be as easy to accidentally click it, and that works really well. So far no more accidental Siri button activations! I kind of buggered up the cut out though, I probably should have used a box-cutter rather than a dull pocket knife with a thick blade. But it worked. 👍

I don’t use AirTags so i cant comment about that feature.
