Long story short, I'm a huge From Software fan and play all their games, but I have had to miss out on Elden Ring due to my disinterest in owning any of hardware it runs on. Wanted to post about my successes, expensive as they have been, in getting it to run on my M1 Pro MacBook Pro WITH a PS5 controller. The elements are:

Linksys Velop Mesh network (I've had this for years -- didn't buy just for this project)
Cat8 ethernet cable I got at Target
Boosteroid 1 year membership
Elden Ring purchased on Steam
Belkin USB-C to Ethernet dongle
PS5 controller

I'm sure there are way better methods of doing this, but I wanted easy. With a Boosteroid membership, you can open your Steam account in Windows and play your games in a virtual Windows environment. It recognizes your controllers just as it would natively. The only thing I would recommend is plugging right into your network with a cable, not using wifi. The latency and ping rates are just too high for a good experience. With the above setup though, I'm getting consistent 60 FPS and rarely any lag. (Great game, BTW.)

Yeah, I know, I'm just not nearly techy enough to attempt anything like that myself. I did buy the game on Steam though so if From takes the initiative and makes the appropriate updates, I will likely be able to continue on with my save from my Steam account.

When the GPTK dropped at WWDC, I had it set up and was testing both Elden Ring and Cyberpunk 2077 within two days. There is a guide located here which walks you through the process. The advantage of this method is that since game saves are backed up via Steam, I was able to pick up on my Mac where I left off on my PC.
