Did anyone notice that one the biggest selling points of the Apple Watch Series 4, the Electrical heart sensor (ECG app), will not be available until unannounced date later this year? I hope this does not disappear like the charging pad.

...I hope this does not disappear like the charging pad.
Also this is NOTHING like whatever issues Apple is having with the charging pad. The ECG is just a software update. It appears Apple has received complete approval from the FDA but is likely waiting on the final "paperwork" to be "mailed and filed".

They have to launch it because they could get sued if it never comes. It’s an advertised feature in the US so they have to launch it within a reasonable time frame.

They haven’t sold anyone the charging pad so they don’t have to release it ever if they don’t want to.

They can get away with not releasing it outside the US becuase they said at the keynote that it was US only and it’s not mentioned on the product information on their international product pages.

It’s likely that they received FDA clearance on it, however do not have their claims locked up so they cannot release it without those claims and contingencies in places, this can take a little bit of marketing Braun which they are not experts on. I work in the medical device industry, and we get clearances all the time, where we can talk about things but are not ready for prime time because of this very thing ... they wouldn’t be able to even mention it if they didn’t have clearance already ...

They wanted to keep the S4 as secret as possible. Though those FDA filings are public this couldn’t be done before it was announced. I think they work hard to get it on it’s way as fast as possible. I hope this also is true for Europe and the rest of the world. My father could need this. AFib already brought him to the hospital once.
