There is no other solution but when they designed the case they clearly did not have the first idea that metals and RF transparency do not go together. Several people before the case was released pointed this out.

I guess those people are the ones who should have there job then. Guess your right that we should listen to you next time and all the others.

You thought this would not be a potential problem? Just read simple basic treatises and papers on radio frequency transparency. Hell, forget that, just read on *these forums* about previous attempts with iphone cases either metal or carbon fiber or even metallic paint.

Element Case can just kiss my ass!!!

This is not how you do business!!!

Either ship me my case or refund my $119.

That simple!!!

It's actually worse than you think. Ask for a refund and you'll get an email saying you've been refunded, except that it won't be true. I sent them three emails about it and now just filed a dispute with pay pal and american express.

Classic. They fund production from early orders and now they will delay refunds as long as they possibly can. Happily I ordered via American express as they are much faster at resolving disputes and immediately credit your account.

I know these cases look cool but the average six year old kid would do a better job of handling customer inquiries than the imbeciles at element case. I'm tired of helping them with their cash flow while watching later orders get filled.

On top of that there are signal issues. Apple stock went down ten percent due to loss of a bar or two of signal when the phone was gripped a certain way. And now we are going out of our way to buy and wait for a CASE that does the same thing? No thank you!

Btw if you are trying to get a refund my advice is to check your actual account. They are just trying to pull a fast one by telling you that your status has changed to refunded. It hasn't. In fact, I sent a case back to switcheasy and my account was credited via paypal four days after I sent it back in the mail to them. So element can't blame the delay on

These guys suck!

Nope

I understand, but why not post this in the element thread so you could get opinions from all of those already subscribed and replying to that thread? You'll get more replies there. :)

The cost of the case is about 100 bucks with shipping. The iphone is about 200 (with a contract). So basically your paying for a case that costs half of what it is protecting costs. I would much rather get 50% off the next iphone.

I find it funny people buy an aluminum case, wrap it around the antenna, and then be surprised that it kills their reception.

There's a reason why the 1st gen, 3G and 3GS had PLASTIC over the antenna area.

The minute I saw this case and saw what it was made of I knew it was going to mess up the reception way more than a simple hand.

Remind me again of the reason why the 4th gen iPhone does not have plastic over the antennae?

its more exposed, clearly it was an aesthetic choice, (good or bad, that's debateable, I just have a clear piece of vinyl covering it) but if you're gunna cover it with a case of some sort, plastic and rubber are better choices for RF than aluminum. Also despite what has been said about the antenna, I can only speak for myself. For me it catches RF signals way better than my 3GS in certain areas, and it holds on to calls better with fewer bars, being an exposed antenna. Is it more finicky? Maybe, but that's just because we're all trained to look at a set of bars as a basis for what is a good or bad reception, and its a natural instinct to go and say "ugh i have 2 bars my reception stinks" 2 bars are more than enough to make a call in some instances.

+1 Yup pretty big fail. No phone should ever "require" a case to use due to bad design. (albeit being a case lover)

You make some valid points but then:

1)Many people have not had any issues at all
2)Many people prefer not to diminish the aesthetics of their phone with a rubber/plastic case
3) 100 bucks is in many people's opinion a small price to pay.
4) this is not form or function. It's not mutually exclusive. It is a compromise. Nicer then a regular bumper, more protective then naked, less signal, etc.

You make great points. I agree.

1) Everybody will have the issue in weak signal conditions - if you stay in strong signal areas the whole time then you are not going to have the issue.

2. I can understand that but you are not dimishing the aesthetics of the case. You are *completely* changing them.

3. I can see that point.

4. It really is form over function because you are tilting the compromise in favour of form over function.

That all being said, if one has at minimum a good, let's say 4 bar signal - 3 is a tad iffy - almost all the time then I can well understand the choice.

Edit: My point 2) is too strong. You are changing the aesthetics but not completely. The back is still open.

1) No one can really make any claims on the V2 reception until there's tested proof. Until then, it's just heresay.

2) Yes, the aesthetics change with ANY case, but at least the accentuates it, not diminishes it. Compare this case to a silicone case aesthetically speaking and tell me which one wins? A silicone case will always lose. It's just a rubber cover.

4) It's not form over function or function over form until we get an absolute answer on signal strength.

Haha. Yeah on point 2 I consider it an augmentation of the aesthetics. Hard angular surfaces, clean lines etc

As for the signal. I guess I'm happy I'm from Canada. I really can't comment on the states, but where I spend my time it's either full coverage, usually 3G, or no coverage.

Or, better yet, they could do you like they did me. I had sent 9 emails to Element directly over the course of a week asking for a refund, to which I got no reply (mind you, my case hadn't shipped yet either). But the morning after i finally file a dispute with Paypal (to which the seller obviously gets a notification), they ship my damn case! And notate that with Paypal. So instead of getting my refund quickly, per Paypal's terms I have to now return the case and show proof of return (submitting a tracking number that they can verify). So instead of getting my money back now, I have to wait for the case to arrive, then return ship it, then verify that with Paypal, then wait for that to clear to get my funds back. When they could have just responded to any one of the 9 emails this past week and credited my account. Shady sh** from them.
Moral of this story...if they have been dicking around about shipping your order, file a Paypal dispute. They'll probably go ahead and ship you a case as opposed to returning your funds.

My order said shipped on Wednesday and I still don't have a tracking number. It's from USPS. I've bought loads from the USA in my day and I always got a shipping notice right away. If it doesn't show up soon I'm gonna go eat a bail of hay:D
Sorry I was rhyming there and just couldn't stop........think i will go get myself a pop........ahhhhhhhhh ,heeeeeeelp!

Mine was shipped Wednesday but shows no tracking info. I guess I did expect for the money for the case to be sent fedex or UPS with better tracking info.

As do I but you have people coming out of left field who don't have it throwing in their two cents.

Amen brother!!!! If I wanted to reminisce about grade 10 science I'd visit the library.
I just care about the puuuuurdy case. Or

Pics of purdy case
People returning purdy case
people selling purdy case

Anything purdy and case related works for me...........OH, and bitching!:D
