Right so Christmas is looming and I'm beginning the long task of converting my DVD's to ipod format for the train to and from Uni, my question is though.

Will the Elgato Turbo.264 HD speed up encode times noticeably with handbrake? Or would the difference be negligable compared to the speed of the quad core processor running on its own...

I have an Elgato Turbo.264 HD I will be testing that out for sure.

I just purchased the darn thing a week before the new iMac release.

Just the same I will tester out and let you know this week if someone does not by then.

I am interested in knowing this as well. Some people have complained that the Elgato Turbo.264 HD encoder does a poor job of encoding. There a few videos floating around YouTube showing you the difference between a movie encoded with and without the Elgato Turbo.264. The video tends to be much more flat and darker.

Thanks!! In particular the FPS encoding to the ipod touch/ipohone setting with and without the encoder would be apprieciated, although any format would do as long as it demonstrates the performance change if any...
