This is probably the adult way to look at this. Even if someone doesn’t like the owner, it’s the platform that matters. Let’s see what happens.
Elon is finally free to call anyone who disagrees with him a 'pedo guy', that is of course just before he bans that person off twitter. Yeah, it's about free speech Elon.
I did a while back, just before Trump got booted, and I only rarely regret my decision.
Open source algorithms will improve third party apps too like Tweetbot. Excited about that.
Every site, even those that claim they won't in the name of free speech, will ban and censor people for violating their terms of use.

I hope this doesn't contribute to social networks becoming more politically identified and siloed off, like news outlets. We need more exchange of ideas and experiences and fewer echo chambers.

Truth Social has been deleting accounts who do not agree with their views and are much worse at it so far in their wee hours of existence than the big bad bear Twitter conservatives are so scared of.
I fear historians will look back at a handful of billionaires controlling the future of media as why modern socities collapsed.

How does the political comment rule work on MR? Or is it just when the speech goes a specific way that it's allowed. Asking for a friend.
People realize that just fine, but it requires content moderation and rules.
The devil is in the details there and it's incredibly hard (likely impossible) to craft rules that necessarily require fairly objective definitions of hate speech, harassment, truth claims, etc

I really like Twitter - its one of the few places to find out what's happening in the news without bias from actually I witnesses in real time. Depending on how this plays out I may be closing my account and I am done with Social Media.
