It's pretty clear you're a Musk fan and will defend anything he does.
Uh nope. I already bashed him for being an absolute stupid idiot by walking on stage and blocking the view of the DJ.

He's completely oblivious and unable to read the room.

How do you explain this now?

”agree to disagree” you’re not great at paying attention to other people’s actual lived experience.

Nope. It seems more likely you can't fathom someone else having a difference of an opinion. It's a subjective take, therefore I can disagree. After a few back and forth responses, it's clear to me we won't agree. Hence "agree to disagree" is perfectly valid.

Remember when people complained about Apple removing the headphone jack?

Yeah. Lots of parallels 🤣

It's time to put twitter out of its misery. Half of the "paid ads" seem to be by highly dubious (criminal?) crypto bros, who also spam lots of other replies. The filter functions (do not show me any tweets which include the string "crypto") ceased to work quite a while ago. Too much noise, and very little actual bits&pieces of information left.

Nope. Because the harasser enjoys frustrating others. When someone thinks a block suffices, quite often the harasser would switch accounts and leave "oh you thought you could block me. well (insult here) you." I would know since I've been on the receiving end.

Why make it more enjoyable?

By making the option of muting, the harasser will never know if the other person read their messages or not. Makes it less fun to troll.

Ok, so in a very few instances it doesn’t work or works against the user. So we should just throw it out without any viable replacement? And don’t say mute is a replacement, because it doesn’t solve the problem that blocking does. How about this. You think it doesn’t work, don’t use it. Many people use it everyday and are happy with its functionality. Why should Twitter get rid of such a useful feature without any viable replacement thereby alienating an ever shrinking user base? It’s a dumb idea, musk is dumb for suggesting it.

OK, Elon....put down your software toys. It's time to get back to your hardware.

Maybe renaming it X was a good move. This is looking less and less like Twitter every week. Maybe down the road, someone could maybe buy the name and resurrect it?
Maybe X needs to fail and Musk needs a serving of humble pie. Even Musk said he takes too much credit for what people in his company do. That probably explains why he has so much free time to mess with a social media company which is really, out of his wheelhouse.

Opinion? Objectively.. You don’t decide what is a useful feature based on whether it is useful to you. It clearly is for many people for the reasons everyone has been saying. It’s not an opinion issue. To say “no it isn’t useful you’re wrong - in my opinion” is being dismissive of everyone’s experience, and a dick move. There are many features on X I think are stupid and I’ve never used. I could say they’re unnecessary, but if I ignored everyone who used those features and insisted they shouldn’t exist, I’d be being an asshat. Even moreso if people were bringing up valid safeguarding concerns related to the features.

The only way mute will be a good alternative to block is when it borrows a lot, if not all of the features of blocking.

its usefulness to the wider public is not.

What you or I think about what others think would be a subjective take, not an objective take.

Even if you had statistically significant data showing 99.9% of all Twitter users saying they think block is useful, me saying "I think those people think block is useful, but I believe it's only seemingly useful to them and not actually useful", that would still be a subjective take.

This reminds me of people using the Juicero machine thinking the machine is necessary when you can just squeeze out the juice by hand. Before you saw someone squeeze the juice by hand, you might think the machine is useful and I would disagree. Subjective. And even after you saw someone squeeze out the juice by hand and still believed the machine to be useful. That would also be a valid subjective take to which I would disagree.

Well, your post isn't useful to me.
Ok. That's subjective.

Does that mean that your point of view is useless to everyone? ;)
Well like I said, usefulness is subjective. Some might think my point of view is useless to everyone, others might think my point of view is not useless to everyone. Hope this post is useful. I think it is, but you might think it's not and that's ok. ;)

Sure am glad I have never got involved with any of these parasite web groups. They all have as their first demand access to my contacts. A huge NO.
THIS!! So subtle and yet spot on to al it’s every damn social media app even so many others!

So obvious I’ve been so blinded to even ignore this truth! Ugg’s in ashamed I ignored this to be frank.

That is crazy, so the abuser will keep tagging and messaging other users? This makes no sense, best to quit this X app. Be done with it.

Yeah. I’ll get what I need from all my bookmarks. Delete my opinionated posts then purge my account. One less time sucking mind numbing service to use in my life! I mean there is always email but at least that’s productive (work & personal not X related).

Disagreed. A tool's usefulness is purely subjective. Agree to disagree.
If you never use a hammer it’s a useless tool *to you*, doesnt make it a useless tool

Whether a tool is useful or not is not subjective, it’s objective based on if, overall, people use the tool.

The subjective part is if you find it useful

Personally, for example, I find garlic presses a silly tool. I can easily crush or dice garlic without having a purpose built tool in my kitchen. But I can’t say it’s a useless tool because a lot of people do find it useful, I can only say it’s useless *to me*. Get it?
