Regardless of if you hate or love Musk. Steam and Apple have both been robbing developers/studios of a 30% cut since the storefronts opened. It makes it harder for small studios to turn a profit, and forces big studios to crunch folks rather than hiring more developers. Epic, I believe, has a lower fee. But, still probably not great.

Yeah, he definitely should learn when to say something and when not to. That was a pretty dumb tweet. I don’t think Apple should take 30 percent, but definitely much more than 3 percent.

I h
Tesla charges a HUGE premium for a car that has worse paint than any Honda and worse build quality than a Geo Metro. Seriously, the panel gaps are horrendous and the paint generally comes from the factory orange-peeled. There are frequently missing and mis-fit trim pieces.

Yes their customers are dumb enough to accept that and defend it.

I'm sure he'll cut the premium markup on all Tesla products.
I have a friend with a Tesla and he likes everything about it except for the quality of the body.

Anyone else just tired of Elon at this point? And I say this as a Tesla owner. He needs to focus on his own businesses. Tesla service centers / support could use miles of improvement.

Extremely tired of him and totally agree with you on his need to focus on the businesses.

I think his narcissism and "pleasure" out of saying whatever and getting reactions is actually closer to the root of why he wants to buy Twitter than any other explanation.

He really loves the playpen of sycophants who gush over his every utterance.

What's Elon really has to do with the App store? Does it really matter?

No idea why Elon is even getting involve. What does he really know about the App store? What's he going to do? Buy App store from Apple?

He is just stating his own opinion on social media. It’s not his fault, everyone loves to write articles such as this one about everything he says.

PS no I don’t like him either for different reasons

Out of the blue strong opinions on controversial topics and straight up memes are kind of Elon's thing on Twitter. Best not to take it all too seriously.

I don't know about the 10x part, but 30% is too much. Apple should make some money for creating, maintaining, improving, moderating, and hosting the platform. But Apple also benefits from 3rd party apps on their ecosystem, so some compromise should be made.

At the same time, I am not sure consumers will stand to benefit from lower commission. I think most developers will simply pocket the differences as a bonus.
Apple already charges an annual developer fee. I don't see why the transaction fees are so high.

Elon Musk's car prices are higher then they should be too. I think he should sell his cars for cost. LITERALLY.

Clearly, businesses should not be allowed to make profits on the goods and services they provide. Obviously it cost nothing to produce an SDK, host the App Store, support the customers.

But you know what really is infinitely more expensive than it should be? Tesla's Full Self Driving feature. Selling a non-existent feature for $10K (or is it $12K now?) should be criminal. At least the App Store existed before Apple tried to make money on it.
Everyone knows that Apple is abusing a duopoly position in the marketplace. You also know that Tesla comparison is ridiculous.

You're basically saying that Apple needs developers as much as developers need Apple.

So in that case... it should be 50/50... ;)

Thankfully it's not. The developer has always made more than Apple. 70% vs 30%

And most developers are in the "under a million" club so they actually get to keep 85% with Apple only getting 15%

Could the commission fees be lower still? Sure! But I'm not making those decisions.

I just wish there could be some sort of solution that will make everyone happy. Frankly I'm sick of hearing about this. ?

That's exactly what I predict, too.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯
