eMac ethernet connection died

Hi

My emac has just lost IP connection
Fine all day then suddenly !!!!
Swopped cat5 cable with working Mac - sick eMac still no connection, good Mac still has good caonnection - so cable->router OK

On sick eMac Sytem Prefs->Network shows correct settings
BUT
Network Utility show NULL IP address 0.0.0.0

On my good Mac if I change the (fixed) IP address in SystemPrefs->Network the value in Network Utility reflects that change.

Not on the sick eMac
Do I have a hardware problem ?
