How would you respond in Gmail using another email account on an iPhone? I have my gmail setup so that I can respond via name@mydomain.com and can easily do it via the desktop version but not using the built-in iPhone app nor Safari (even when switching to full desktop version).

I had this same problem. Somewhat recently, google added the ability to add that alias as an SMTP account. Just set it up the way you setup your normal gmail account, but use the alias instead of the actual address.

Anyone got this working? I couldn't find a solution to use Gmail-aliases.

Can't, unfortunately, as far as I can tell. The current Android Gmail app can, though, so maybe it'll be added to the iPhone web app at some point.
