    Hello,

I am looking for some email help. After years of bugging my inlaws to switch to Mac, my farher in law just bought the latest iMac.

He ha used optimum Internet and insists on using his optimum email address. While he was using his pc, he used outlook to access his optimum email.

Now that he is using the mac, we have a few issues. 1. He doesent want to pay for the Mac version of outlook. 2. Apples native mail application and optimum
Don't work together. 3. Optimum website does not work well on safari.

So, I'm looking for advice on free Mac email clients to use to access his optimum mail

Mozilla Thunderbird might do the trick.

Can you elaborate on these two points? In what way don't they work?

    Yes sir,

as far as apples mail and optimum: When I try to set up the optimum account I get an error message saying that the account works but that the password is not secure. Apple support told me that it was an issue with Optimum and Optimum support told me that they didint know and I could try to read about a fix. After setting it up, I can read incoming emails in apples mail but when I try to send, it says that it cannot conenct to server.

As far as Optimum and safari: I imported the address book. When trying to select contact sometimes the page does not load and sometimes it takes 30 to 45 seconds to load. thats what made me this there was a compatability issue with safari

You don't have the proper SMTP configuration settings.

Where are you importing this address book from? What are these pages and what do they have to do with your contacts?
