What's wrong with Google's own stock 4.4 email app (rather than GMAIL app) ?

It can be side loaded easily and is certainly one of the best apps for email on android devices.

I haven't used it in a while but recall the reason I moved away from it was the lack of autosizing so that the message would automatically fit the screen. Without this functionality, reading email was a P.I.T.A--so much side scrolling and/or pinch to zoom. I found it so annoying it prompted me to set up my Gmail account to automatically pull in messages from my non-Gmail accounts so they everything was viewable in the Gmail app.

Has this been added to the stock email app?

For me, not all emails will resize in the stock app. But some will. That was one of my reasons for switching to Nine too (for exchange). And I remain using gmail for my gmail accounts rather than the recommended bluemail because of this too

Well, I started using bluemail and the ui seems really nice. One thing that worries me is that it is completely free with no ads. Maybe I'm cynical, but how does this developer monitizr his time for making that app? Guess I'm a little concerned about privacy. I don't mind paying at all for a quality app.

^ indeed my friend

For those that are using bluemail, I'm having issues with only some emails not auto sizing to prevent the need for horizontal scrolling. When I pull the emails in question up in the stock gmail app, they auto size correctly.

Fwiw, I have sync set to 30 days in blue mail, along with autodownload set to 200kb (maybe the fact that there is no option to auto download the entire message is the root of the problem)

I was actually having the same issue with the stock android mail app for my work exchange account. The nine app appears to correctly auto size every time :) very pleased with nine, too bad it doesn't fully support gmail.

I love the unified inbox of bluemail , but I hate scrolling left and right / resizing!

I don't have that issue. It resizes perfectly on my Nexus 5. It works better than the yahoo app with is too small to read and have to make it bigger everytime. Also, I haven't used it in a while since I changed phones in Nov but K9 mail was pretty good too and its free.

No clickable links allowed for some reason. Today I noticed the Mac rumors links from this forum no longer are clickable in Blue mail or Yahoo but everything else is.

Well that's crazy I don't know what to say. It's pretty reliable at not resizing for me. Maybe it's because I'm using gmail accounts with it? Interesting...

Well , when it loads initially it is already a good size, if you keep trying to make it big then it wont fit the screen. My Yahoo opens them up small and when i try to get it bigger to the size it loads on Bluemail or K9, it does what your saying, ....you have to go left to right so im saying it loads up bigger already and fits the screen.

Ive never tried it but there are free ones that are pretty good. K9, Bluemail. Not sure what Nine does that is worth $10.

For me, it was because exchange policies can be forced upon the app specifically , rather than the entire phone. Afaik the big two that offer this are nine and touchdown.

Nine is strictly an active sync exchange mail app and not all providers are supported, like regular gmail.

That's the reason I use Touchdown too. Makes it very easy to use the rest of the phone when you're not checking work email. I wish Nine had some widgets. Very useful for calendar items.

Indeed, I should have switched sooner!

Fwiw the stock android Calender app's widget is working great with nine's Calender information hooked into it. That may not be what you are looking for though :)

A little late to the thread...but

I searched through several of the email apps mentioned here, and found them all to be a bit 'lacking' in configuration, features and/or UI usability.

Ended up with Aqua Mail, and bought the Pro Key for it, which allows more email accounts.

Supports my 4 email accounts quite easily. 1 iCloud, 2 IMAP (w/ idle push) and 1 Google. Aqua Mail is very configurable, both in the way it syncs, UI, and various email account setup options. Took a little tinkering (as there are so many options), but now all my email accounts sync perfectly between my HTC One M8, my iPad, and my desktop and laptop.

They do have a trial version.

I've downloaded and set up Blue Mail since it has been highly recommended on this thread. So far I like it. I've been using CloudMagic, but Blue Mail looks much nicer and offers just as much if not more functionality.

Yeah, so far I'm torn between those two. I like the ui of Blue better, but cloud magic seems to format emails better. Maybe I'll keep both and wait for an update to decide the winner.

I'm going to keep both for a while also. I don't send very many emails so either will probably do well for me.
