Hi guys, just upgraded the software on my iPad, it seems very much the same except the DELETE BIN has gone in the email, so God only knows how to remove a message.
Why do they make things more difficult?

If you swipe the message listed on the left side a red "Archive" box pops up so it will be archived. To move them to trash or whatever folder you want just tap on the Folder icon(fourth from the right on top), the message shrinks a bit and all the folders/Mailboxes appear on the left. Just tap the folder you want the message to go in be it Trash, Spam, Starred ect.. and that's where it goes.

you can also just remove the archive button - and put the delete button back where it used to be in Mail.

U have to to that in the settings for Mail,Contacts etc.

There is an option now to archive and it is ON - turn it to OFF and now in Mail you will have the delete/trash button back up where it used to be...

This is an awesome tip, for which I thank you.

I wanna say that archiving messages is for gmail only. So if you don't see it then you're most likely not using gmail.

Me too, no option to turn it off.

In settings,

go into Mail settings,

under 'accounts' tap on your gmail account,

in a pop over window you will now see sync options for that account, including the option to turn off archiving.
