iPhone Upgrade Program
Upgrade your iPhone.
Lower your monthly payment.

Now that it’s time to upgrade, we think you’ll love iPhone XR with itsall-screen design, the longest battery life ever in an iPhone, the fastest performance, and studio-quality photos. And you can get it for less than what you’re paying today. Upgrade online or at an Apple Store near you.

I copied and pasted the email.
The XR seems to be a downgrade. I only owe now $499, and I hate to start over. I have decided not to upgrade from my beautiful ipx. How much are the XRs? How is it better than the X? Sell me if you can.

Better processor
Better rear wide angle camera
Better portrait editing
Better battery life
Better colors
Bigger screen
Better memory options (128gb)
Better price

The Xr will outlast your X at least one additional year of iOS updates.

Benefit of X:
OLED
Telephoto rear camera
3D Touch
A little slimmer

I don’t know how you can consider the Xr a downgrade... maybe just because the name has an “r” in it.

I will say though if you already have the X to just stick with it until next years options. But if you had to upgrade from an older phone, I feel the decision is more favorable for the Xr

The A12 is faster, but that's only 15% or thereabouts. The real difference is the incredible battery life on the XR.

But I don't think the XS/XR are upgrades to the iPhone X. Only the XS Max is.

Don't fall for this "the monthly payment is lower" BS, because you're committing to another entire year of installments. Keep your X, it's a great phone.

I agree with battery life of XR...huge improvement.

A12 is actually significantly faster than A11 in both CPU and GPU (and Neural). Big improvement in CPU...but where it really separates from A11 is GPU. And not just pure speed, but SUSTAINED performance is much much better. Thus, you now have 60 FPS gaming on A12 phones because of the sustained performance benefits.

And this is why Apple made a whole segment about A12 chip during the presentation.

Of course, if you want to hear from someone smarter than me...here's Anandtech: https://www.anandtech.com/show/13392/the-iphone-xs-xs-max-review-unveiling-the-silicon-secrets/3

100% agree.

As for Xr being a downgrade to X, i am not so sure. Plus and minus to either one. There is no doubt that Xr will be more future proof just by being 1 year younger AND A12 chip...since both have 3 GB RAM. The camera itself is a significant improvement over 2017 iPhones...bigger sensor + Smart HDR = game-changer.

To be honest there are times I forget that I upgraded from an X to an XS. It’s a nice but not huge upgrade difference IMO. I have nothing but good things to say about the Apple IUP program. It’s perfect for someone like me that always wants the latest phone.

Apple have been trying to get me to trade in my iPhone 7 for the XR

I just haven’t got that £529.99 spare and I had to fork out cash for a new Washing Machine earlier this year

I’ve just took up the £25 battery replacement though

For me my old iPhone 8+ was a great phone. Now that I have the XS version I see absolutely no difference other than a tad better on the camera, size and face ID. Why don’t you keep your phone until there is an absolutely a good reason to upgrade, not just to have a few minor improvements. Remember, it’s just a phone that you do the very same thing as your current phone does and you save money to boot.

The fact that you're asking the question is really the answer, in my opinion. The Xr isn't enough of an upgrade to make the cost worthwhile. Unless you're having major problems with the X, stay put with that for another year.
Not the first problem with my ipx. Thanks guys

Yea, that analysis can be applied to any newer iPhone....:)
None of the new offerings was enough for me to upgrade from my X. I would get a marginal improvement across the board. Hopefully the 2019 offerings will bring the wow factor. Unfortunatley with 5G not appearing on an iPhone until 2020, that may be the year to watch.

And if you don’t find the appeal with the XR, then I would stay with your iPhone 7, it’s still a solid contender with the A10 fusion processor, now that you just acquired a new battery, you should see some performance enhancements. The iPhone 7 was one of my all time favorites.

Yep I’ve had 2 iPhone 7s I got bored of Rose Gold after 25months and decided to sell and buy a used Jet Black the condition isn’t great, it marks relatively easily but it’s a rare phone now as it isn’t made anymore lol

I love it regardless anyway going to put screen protectors on it front n back to cover the marks up lolz

I will get a new iPhone when I’m free from my credit card debt lmao

Did they give an option or force you to update to latest iOS? I am trying to avoid an iOS Update for this Battery Replacement as the Partner Store insists they have to do it.

I had already updated to 12.1.12
When it came out!

All the rep asked was a description of what was wrong then she ran diagnostics then mentioned if it has a third party battery in then they’d put it back together and give to back to me but that wasn’t so thankfully!
