hello.

got my new 27 imac. its incredible!

anyway, ive set up the mail program so my hotmail messages come directly to it and it works great.

however, when i read and delete them and access my hotmail on a different computer through the hotmail website, all of the messages i have previously read and deleted are all still there and marked as unread.

is there a way of synching the two, so when i do something in the mail program on my mac, the same happens in the actual hotmail inbox?

ive tried going to mailbox>erase deleted items>in all accounts... but this doesnt work either!

help me out please!

Go into Mail>Preferences>Accounts and there should be options for when mail on the server is removed. It works with a POP account but not sure if it will work with something like Hotmail.

This is to be expected with a POP configuration. IMAP (which Gmail offers) is where any changes you make to the inbox/sent/other folders, is reflected on the server as well. The option Dave is referring to just removes them from the server after they're downloaded to the computer, it will not "sync" or mark messages read through the client as read on the server.
