What's a legal requirement? Annoying everyone here?

To hire only people with a doctorate or equivalent (from a "RU-VH"-rated university from the US, so to say).

You asked a direct question, and I answered it. You then twisted my answer to mean something else. Why?

I finally came to the conclusion that you have no idea of which you speak, as in, you never hire people, so your contribution has no value.

My contribution has more value than yours because mine is based on reality.

Your conclusion is erroneous.

are you make hiring decisions?

LOL

i have to go, my stomach is beginning to hurt from this laughter.

seriously.

hahahhahahahahahaha

still gotta disagree. when you have hundreds of applicants for one spot, email matters. hotmail/gmail/yahoo/gmx(german) is grounds for exclusion.

but then again, it's also mandatory to have a photo with the CV and until recently your parents' professions were listed as well (especially if they were professional ... lawyer/doctor/scientist/professor/etc...)

i mean, do you really want to do business (definition of a professional) with someone who is too cheap to spend 10 USD on a domain name (because they don't have a CC)?

honestly, guys.

Honestly, do you just make it up as you go along? Who friggin' cares about an email address???????????

Good. I probably wouldn't be interested.

I don't have a Doctorate and probably make more than you. :)

Please go back in the thread and actually address the questions and points that I have made. If you do that, you will be taken seriously.

Otherwise, you are simply someone who gets their jollies from causing **** on an internet forum. You deserve no respect for your behavior. No professional that I know would behave this way, even on an anonymous internet forum.

all you supposably hiring managers who only hire phds for big companies/research institutions......stop wasting your company's resources bickering on MR during work hrs lol

Personally, I have always heard a gmail account is fine if the handle is professional.

I have also been hired with using a spam email account with a unprofessional name that I accidentally replied with (I hate the mail app when have a ton of emails)

To me, to disregard someone over an email is unprofessional. Qualifications>>>>>>>>>>>>email name PERIOD

in Germany = 21.58

the world does NOT work on US time ... LOL

Nice America-centric comment.

I'll take my 10 weeks of paid holiday / year + unlimited sick days in exchange for a small difference in gross pay (that's a Euro-centric comment.)

i have 20+ more years of income-earning potential

:p

If you are allowed to live that long that is.

I have a Ph.D., I got hired with a Gmail address. Before applying for a job, I set up a new firstname.surname@gmail.com email address. Why would I send an application from my university account, when I know that I'll lose that account once I graduate? I'd risk having my email account taken away from me before I got a job.

I got hired on my first job application, after my first interview. I don't see how it could have worked out better.

And someone who pays in cash has the money to pay, since it's obviously very liquid. Anybody can pay in credit. If someone pulls out a stack of $100s, I'd be more impressed than if someone pulled out a card, unless that card was made of solid platinum.

In an attempt to get this somewhat back on topic.....I have the option of using the following two domains for my personal e-mail address:

@firstnamelastname.org
@fmlastname.com

All of the other obvious options are taken for .com, .net., and .me.

Which would you pick?

Don't worry, that won't be a problem anymore. :D

It really depends. What would be the beginning part of either email address? I think it may look a little weird going with:

firstnamelastname@firstnamelastname.org
fmlastname@fmlastname.com

An example of how it would be would be either rj@robertjohnson.org (perhaps robert@robertjohnson.org) or robert@rfjohnson.com

I know the conventional gTLD thoughts have long sense gone out the window (.com for commerce sites, .net for for network infrastructures, .org for non-commerce organizations, etc), but I was just looking to see what the general consensus is here on that topic.
