This is one of the maddening and ridiculous things that apple does. They are too stubborn to admit that this is a major flaw and should be patched immediately, like 3 years ago.

It's 2012 and you're telling me there's no "select all" or " mark all read," etc?? What a joke.

I love my iPad and phone but this is just sorry.

Here's a few more:

-no "forward delete key"
-AppStore does not allow you to download more than one app at a time without exiting the store
-no external iPod controls without headphones
- no color customization, even on simple things like text bubbles
-no automatic wallpaper changes (theme)

I could go on. Apple is so stubborn and headstrong. Yes they have amazing products, but infrequent software updates and inability to admit a mistake and fix things quickly is frustrating. I can't even sync after updating iOS, and this is a common problem, still not fixed.

Yes I'm a hypocrite and yes I'll continue using but this is 2012.

Good post.

There is select all and mark all read. You do it exactly the same way as described above for select all and move all.

It's not missed by anyone. They are simply too stubborn and think their device is just fine and the greatest thing since the garden of Eden before they ate the apple.

From this thread covering the same topic:

1. Go to the account
2. Select the inbox.
3. Tap edit & select any email
4. Hold down the MOVE button
5. While holding the Move button, deselect the email
6. Release the Move button
7. Select the folder where you'd like to move the mail

Nice! Thanks very much!

Mass delete

Elsewhere in this forum the trick to mass delete emails was as follows;
Select edit
Check one box
Note, the move to folder button becomes available
Press and hold that button
Deselect the email
Wait a moment and the inbox, sent and trash folders appear. After a few moments depending on how many emails in your in box, press the trash option.
Once in trash you can delete all there if so inclined.

Deleting emails.

I guess I do not fully understand the need to delete emails from an iPad. I just use the ability in mail settings to limit the number of emails or weeks to keep on the iPad. Old ones disappear automatically. I can still access old ones if i need to on my desk top but that is very rare, and on the desk top of course you can mass delete as you wish. So maybe I am like Apple and don't see a need, it is after all a mobile devise.
