Emails for new items in shared Reminders list

I have a list in the Reminders app that I shared with my wife to use as a grocery list. The problem is that every single time she adds or removes something from our list, it sends me an email. Needless to say when she is working on our grocery list for the week, it is maddening.

The odd thing is that if I add/remove something from that list, it doesn't send her an email.

The same behavior applies to calendar items - if she adds something to her calendar I'll get an email. I don't mind that as much, but would love to turn off the Reminders emails.

Hope this is the right place for this question - can't find answers anywhere.

I have the same exact setup. We use a shared list named Groceries.

I setup an email rule in both of our iCloud web accounts so "subject containing Groceries move to trash". Works perfectly.

Ugh - love the workaround but hate that I even have to do it!

I may do the same until I figure out how to turn it off though. There has to be a way as my wife doesn't get the emails that I do.

Thanks!

The way I found this to work is who ever adds/edits/removes an item from the list, the other person gets the email. You can disable in-app notification in the iCloud settings but if you use the email notification for shared calendars you won't get notifications.

Until Apple changes the integration of reminders within calendars it is what it is.

You could try a different type (not iCloud) of account to both users device(s) and sync reminders-only. Outlook.com works on iOS. A Yahoo account would work with both Mac and iOS.

Mac Reminders is a little wonky with scheduled reminders on third-party syncing services...doesn't always work like it should. iOS seems to handle them OK. A non-scheduled reminders list, like "groceries" would work with either of the above services.

I thought that's how it behaves as well, but when I add items, my wife doesn't get the email. It's very weird.

I may try to delete and recreate it and see if the behavior continues.

Yeah no kidding it's wonky. I may try another option but really liked the native Reminders app. Like being able to add things using Siri on my drive home, that kind of thing.

Hoping it gets fixed in future updates.

Thanks all for the suggestions!

The ones I mentioned work with the native app and Siri...at least they do for me with our grocery list via Yahoo.
